A Survey on College Students’ English Learning Motivation and the Learning Results

This survey has been processed on 78 graduate students in grade 2010, majoring in science and engineer, from different classes. By analyzing the results of College English Test 4 and questionnaire, it shows that the students’ English learning motivation roots in Certificate. Differences between the winners and losers are not reflected in the time they have used to study, but the learning motivation they possess.     

English Learning under the Context of Globalization

In contemporary,globalization is advancing at an unprecedented rate in multitude arenas.Globalization has brought us to contact with the culture,customs and thinking of countries around the world.English learning under the context of globalization has been changed to some extent.Globalization is exuberant,specific learning instead of systematic learning is what is necessitated.     

Evolution From Collaborative Learning to Symbiotic E-learning： Creation of New E-learning Environment for Knowledge Society

For people who live in the knowledge society which have rapidly been changing, learning in the widest sense becomes indispensable in all phases of working, living and playing. The construction of an environment, to meet the demands of people who need to acquire new knowledge and skills as the need arises, and enlighten each other regularly, is becoming very important. Thus, we hope to make the best use of the advantages of a rich e-learning environment which aims at ＂anytime, anywhere and anybody＂ learning, because participants in lifelong learning for the knowledge society demand to learn at the right place and right time, and with learning content, they can select themselves. However, in a general e-learning environment so far, because the situation is usual in which the instructor is absent and has the asynchronous access without an immediate communication with others, the participants tend to be solitude and it is difficult to maintain the learning motivation. Therefore, the creation of a new e-learning environment becomes extremely important in which various participants can learn and enlighten each other through an occasional and helpful interaction among them in appropriate learning communities in the network environment. In this paper, we present 5 points as basic requirements for the construction of an e-learning environment which can satisfy the various learning demands of the knowledge society, and discuss how to realize them. The key point here is the extension of the usual ＂strong＂ collaborative learning to effective ＂weak collaborative learning＂. In addition, the evolution of ＂symbiotic learning＂ for the knowledge society, that is, the necessity of ＂symbiotic e-learning environment based on occasional collaborative relationship＂ and its effective realization are discussed.     

Advocating Students’ Individual Learning

A new approach formed with the application of modern teaching facilities makes English teaching and learning more collaborative and individualized through using computers,the Internet,and multimedia.Therefore,students’individual English learning,teaching and learning environment,and conditions that students need in their individual learning are discussed.     

On Stimulation of Students’Interests in English Learning

As the old saying goes that interest is the best teacher and it is quite true that the students’initiative in learning is diffi cult to spur without interest.English is the most widely used language in the world,and people are aware of the importance and necessity in English learning.But English is a second language to us,so learning it is more difficult than the acquiring of our na tive language.Interest is the internal power to spur students’learning.So how to spur the students’s interest in engliash learning is the main prblem discussing in it.     

A Study on the Correlations Between Chinese EFL Learners’ Autonomous Learning and Their Cooperative Learning

Cooperative learning and learner autonomy have become heated topics in English teaching.Many researchers both at home and abroad have carried out the study on this field,and they proved that learner autonomy and cooperative learning are rel evant,cooperative learning can promote English majors’learning autonomy in terms of listening,reading,speaking,however,no obvious findings in vocabulary and writing.This study is conducted to prove the feasibilities and effectiveness of cooperative learning applied to foster first-year non-English majors’learning autonomy from the aspect of vocabulary and structure.The re sults of this study showed that cooperative learning was much more effective than traditional teaching approaches in fostering some positive affective factors.According to this research,cooperative learning can also improve learners’vocabulary and struc ture significantly.

Learning is not only the need for students, but also for teachers, especially for the teachers who want to have a professional development. This article focus on the understanding of learning to teach and hopes to give some suggestions to the teachers who didn't find way to learn to teach.     

Views on College Students’ English Learning Motivation

This paper aims at exploring college students’ English learning motivation to language learning, including effort, interest, and attitudes. To some extent, it is very important to perform activities in language learning classes. On the one hand, teachers should do every effort to develop students’ keen interest in English study so as to foster their intrinsic motivation. On the other hand, they should set up new goals for students and feedback properly in order to build confidence in English learning. In a word, it is essential for English teachers to understand students’ motivation of English learning so as to save time and teach more efficiently.

The Application of Cooperative Learning in Improving Rural Senior High Students’ English

English teaching method has been improved and the effect of teaching has become greater these years in China,but it is not satis fying.Therefore,adopting experiment approach,the present study aims to solve the question:Can cooperative learning bring effect to the English learning? It chooses two classes from a rural school,one is experimental group which adopts cooperative-learning approach,the other is control group which adopts traditional approach.Focusing on the analysis and comparativeness of their two tests’ scores,it studies the influence of cooperative learning on psychology,learning environment and learning which bring to the English learners,making a con clusion that the application of cooperative learning can greatly improve English learning.     

构建深度学习三大“真学支架”

根据我们目前的教育情况来说,深度学习的三大“真学支架”非常有必要。在平时的课堂教育中我们应该要求学生在学习的过程中采用深度学习方法,同时教师也应该根据基本的学习原则和学生的不同心理特点对学习教材进行深度的挖掘,以及对学生的学习方法进行耐心的引导,从而激发学生对学习的兴趣,提高学生自身的学习素养。     

导学案辅助教学实践

导学案编制的核心是"学生与学法",主线是"问题",编写时要做到主体性和基础性、差异性和层次性、开放性和创新性的统一。导学案中的"导"主要体现在教师引导学习流程、构建学习组织、指导学法和激发情绪。导学案中的"学"是指学生利用导学案课前自主学习、课中有效展示、课后有效反思。     

The Efficacy of Personal Learning Plans in Early Childhood Teacher Preparation

The purpose of this paper is to present data demonstrating the potential efficacy of Personal Learning Plans (PLPs) as an instructional tool in early childhood teacher preparation. One hundred and thirty-nine undergraduate students enrolled in an introductory course offered within a unified early childhood education program over a period of four years completed preliminary and final surveys including items on student background, efficacy of course methods, and student learning style and outcomes. Data related to the PLP and other, more didactic, methods used in the target course are presented. A general conclusion that can be drawn from these data is that students believed the PLP method to be no less effective than other methods relative to some indicators and significantly more effective than other methods relative to other indicators. Results are discussed in terms of self-efficacy theory.

让大学生研究性地学习

研究性学习是学生从学习生活和社会生活中选择并确定研究专题,用类似科学研究的方式,主动地获取知识、应用知识、解决问题的学习活动。然而,统计数据反映“科学研究素质”在大学生中受到冷遇,大学生对“科学研究内涵”较陌生。当前应该在各类教学过程中通过适当内容的选择,实施倡导学生进行研究性学习的教学形式。研究性学习评价是基于学生开放性学习基础上的全新评价方式,它力求科学、客观、公正并且具有艺术性。     

从内、外因两方面再论“教”“学”“管”三方之间的关系

在基础课程教学中,作为"主导"的教员其自身的学识和授课时采取的教学方法、手段与教学质量息息相关,各高校实行的各种教改项目也是在不断探索如何才能让学员效率更高的在课堂上收获知识。与此同时,作为"主管"的学员队干部也会采取各种管理措施尽量保证学员们有饱满的精神状态和充足的学习时间,但这两方面都是外在因素。而作为学习的"主体"的学员本身的态度这个重要内因往往被忽略。文中从内外两个因素讨论了教员,队干部和学员三方之间的关系,并提出了从内因入手、从根本上改变学员学习现状的一些建议。     

文化源导入与大学英语教学

要想在大学英语教学中培养学生运用英语的交际能力, 就应在语言教学中进行一定文化导入, 而了解一个民族文化的总体特征将更能增强学生对此文化的敏感性和洞察力。本文引入文化源的概念, 尝试以文化源头导入的方式为先导, 来进行大学英语教学, 并结合文本用霍夫斯特德所提出的文化模式来进行说明。     

移动学习系统及其相关学习模式

上海交通大学现代远程教育研究中心自主研发的移动学习系统具有课程点播、课程直播、资源下载以及自动答疑等功能。当前,移动学习系统中存在基于学习工具的多种学习模式、基于资源的学习模式、基于问题的学习模式、以个人为中心的自主学习模式以及以小组为中心的集体学习模式。将多种学习模式合理结合起来会得到优良的移动学习模式。现有移动学习系统存在学生与老师以及学生与学生间的沟通渠道不够通畅、沟通方式不够多样、沟通环境不够有效等问题。针对这些问题,本文提出了可能的解决方案。     

Influence of Redesigning a Learning Environment on Student Perceptions and Learning Strategies

In society, there is a growing need for graduates who possess competencies consistent with deep learning. This means that, amongst other competencies, graduates should be capable of dealing with the complexity of the tasks in which they will engage in professional situations. We tried to increase the depth of students learning by changing the format of a so-called assignment-based learning to a problem-based learning course. The goals of this research were to determine if students, firstly, perceived the redesigned course as being more challenging and, secondly, adjusted their learning strategies towards deeper learning. Participants were two groups of second-year International Business Studies students attending the International Business Strategy course in consecutive years. Students perceptions of the learning environment and their learning strategies were measured in both the original (n = 406 students) and the redesigned course (n = 312 students) using the Ramsden Course Experiences Questionnaire and the Biggs Study Processes Questionnaire. In contrast to our expectations, the results indicated that the students from the redesigned course showed a higher degree of surface learning and a lower level of deep learning than the students from the assignment-based learning course. Additionally, the students perceived the new learning environment to be less positive in terms of the clarity of its goals, the usefulness of the textbook and the workload. Improvement in terms of students perceptions of the learning environment and their learning strategies could be expected to be fostered by the implementation of a more advanced staff development program, focusing the curricular assessment system on problem-solving skills, supporting the students in the development of the skills necessary to cope with the demands of the redesigned course, and giving them more opportunities to experience this instructional approach.

文章以谈“学问”来联系我国基础教育的现状,指出其弊之一。只注重学书本知识,忽略对学生提问能力的培养。学生脑中缺乏“？”,也就缺乏创造的种子。所以教育者要转变“学问”的旧观念意识,不仅教学生学,更重要的是要教学生首先学会问。学生有了较强的问的能力,也就创造奠定了坚实的基础,创新教育的明天才会闪烁灿烂的光芒。

在数学教学过程中,教师通过组织有效的合作学习,鼓励学生主动质疑、深入思考,开拓创新,不仅能使学生在小组活动过程中成为数学学习的主人,而且能让学生在相互碰撞启发中达成深度学习。文章以"复式统计表"教学为例,探讨如何以有效合作学习促进深度学习的发生。
