Environmental Disposition Factors as Perceived by German, American and Indian

Environment is a broad concept encompassing the whole range of diverse surrounding in which man perceive, experience and react to events and changes. The present investigation has been designed to study the environmental disposition factors as perceived by German, American and Indian. A group of 392 subjects were selected in this investigation. English, German and Bengali version of Environmental Response Inventory were administered to them. All the three groups have favourable attitude towards pastoralism, which means preservation of natural resources. Besides this, they also express variety of opinion in connection with urbanism, environmental adaptation, need privacy and antiquarianism.     

Mexican American and European American College Students' Beliefs About Causes,Cures, and Sources of Help for Anxiety

Mexican American and European American college students rated an empirically derived list of the causes, cures, and sources of help for anxiety. Main effects were obtained for ethnicity on ratings related to cures and one source of help for anxiety. There were also significant differences in ratings of cause and cure beliefs for anxiety between men and women. Level of acculturation, however, was not found to be related to ratings among the Mexican American participants.     

Social Problems as Perceived by College Students in Nizhnii Novgorod

Data from a study of the social problems of college students in Nizhnii Novgorod show that the views of those studying social science are the same as those who are not, regarding both general social problems and those specific to college students.     

Problems and Preferences for Source of Help Among United Arab Emirates University Students

This study examined common problems experienced by Emirati college students and their help-seeking preferences. A Problem Checklist was used to collect data from 450 participants. Factor analysis of the Checklist revealed three reliable factors (personal-interpersonal problems, mood problems, and academic problems). Results indicated that Emirati college students regarded 21 problems of the 34 as minor. The remaining thirteen were perceived as moderate. Women reported experiencing personal-interpersonal and mood problems more than men. The majority of participants preferred self-reliance in dealing with problems, or sought help from family or friends. Advisors and faculty members were consulted more than counselors for academic-related problems. Findings are discussed within the context of the UAE culture.     

School Discipline Disproportionality: American Indian Students in Special Education

American Indian students are disproportionately represented in school discipline referrals (ODRs) and administrative outcomes across general school populations (Brown and DiTillio in J Educ Learn 2(4):47–59, 2013; Whitford and Levine-Donnerstein in Behav Disord 39(2), 2014). The purpose of this study was to examine the ODRs and administrative outcomes of 1612 students in special education, with particular attention to American Indian students (29.2% of the sample). Results indicated, although proportionally referred to school administration for disciplinary action, American Indian students in special education were more likely to be given an out-of-school suspension and/or expulsion, than both White and Hispanic/Latino students in special education, for the same identifying behaviors. Implications for improved practice are provided.

美国华裔学生作为双重文化携带者,兼具美国文化和中华文化,这给他们学习汉语带来一定优势。但同时也往往造成师生双方在初、中年级阶段对相应问题的忽视,这些问题遗留到高年级就可能形成"化石化"现象,难以纠正。一定的文化背景对语言学习既有积极因素也有消极因素,教师要及时利用优势,化解问题。     

帮助新形势下的高职学生解决新问题

随着高职教育事业的发展,新形势下的学生个性越来越鲜明,而缺少学习兴趣、由于基础差而没信心学、厌学、盲目跟从学习等现象日益突出。为了帮助学生克服这些困难,早日走出迷惘,本文结合实践教学给出了一些解决此类问题的方法。     

从美国问卷看中国教师对学习困难学生的帮助

2003年9月,我们接待了美国南达科他州学习障碍协会,他们给我们带来了一份测查教师如何帮助学习困难的教师问卷,我们将问卷翻译成中文,并在北京市城区与郊区的课题组的实验校中随机抽取了350位老师参加了测查,结果收回有效问卷350份。一、美国学习困难的教师调查问卷分析这份教师问卷主旨是测查教师如何根据学习困难学生的需求,特别是有阅读障碍与数学障碍的学生的需求,采取相应的教育措施。问卷共有14道题,采用了三点量表(正确、不正确、不知道)。     

当前高校学生存在的心理问题透视

作为现代社会组成部分的大学生,其生理、心理处在一个迅速的变化期,特别容易受到各种不良因素的影响．由此很容易产生各种各样的心理问题。如果这些问题解决不好,不仅影响其在校的学习生活,还可能影响到他们走上社会以后的适应问题。本文侧重对高校学生存在的几种心理问题进行分析和研究,从心理学的角度为高校学生管理提供有价值的建议。     

Perceived Causes of Mental Health Problems and Help-Seeking Behavior among University Students in Ethiopia

The study examined perceived causes of mental health problems and professional help-seeking behavior among university students in Ethiopia. Data were collected from 370 students from four randomly selected colleges. The results revealed that the majority of the participants were able to recognize major mental health problems such as schizophrenia and major depressive disorder. They attributed mental health problems to psychosocial and biomedical factors and most of the participants had positive attitudes toward seeking professional psychological help.
