The State Key Laboratory of Nonlinear Mechanics （LNM） under the CAS Institute of Mechanics （IMECH） celebrated its 20th anniversary on Dec.20,2008.     

USTC： half a century＇s glory

The University of Science and Technology of China （USTC） under the Chinese Academy of Sciences （CAS） celebrated its 50th anniversary on 20 September, 2008. In eastern China＇s Hefei city where the USTC main campus is located, about 15 thousand students, alumni and faculty hung out banners and held ceremonies to say happy birthday to their college.     

Institute of Neuroscience Sees a Good Start

The past four years have served as a phase of sound inception for the development of the CAS Institute of Neuoscience (ION), noted Prof. Muming Poo, founding director of ION,at the anniversary meeting held from Nov. 29 to Dec. 1 in Shanghai.

The Fourth Presidium of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) was elected at the 11th CAS General Assembly held from May 28 to June 1, 2002, in Beijing.     

CAS General Assembly convenes in Beijing

The 14th CAS General Assembly was held from 23 to 27 June in Beijing. The biennial event was attended by more than 530 CAS Members and six Foreign Members.     

CAS Researcher Win International Catalysis Award

Prof. Li Can, a CAS member and director of the State Key Laboratory of Catalysis at the CAS Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, received the International Catalysis Award at the 13th International Catalysis Congress (ICC)held from July 11 to 16 in Paris.     

The 11th CAS General Assembly Held in Beijing

As their first plenary meetings in the new century, the 11th General Assembly of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Sixth General Assembly of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) were convened in Beijing from May 28 to June 1. A total of 490 CAS members and three foreign members attended the CAS conference.

2021年适逢联合国教科文组织"人与生物圈计划"发起50周年。我国于1973年加入这一全球性政府间大型科学计划,并于1978年经国务院批准成立了中国人与生物圈国家委员会。近50年来,人与生物圈计划的理念与我国自然保护地建设的实践深度融合,对推动我国生物多样性保护和自然资源可持续利用、助力生态文明和美丽中国建设发挥了重要作用。在联合国《生物多样性公约》第十五次缔约方大会(COP15)即将召开和人与生物圈计划发起50周年之际,文章回顾了这一计划在我国的发展历程,分析了存在的问题与挑战,并结合我国以国家公园为主体的自然保护地体系的行业背景,以及参与全球环境治理和共建地球生命共同体的新需求,就工作高质量推进方向做了展望。     

The 10th Session of the Fourth CAS Presidium Held in Beijing

Chaired by Prof. LuYongxiang, executive chairman of the CAS Presidium and president of CAS, the 10th session of the fourth CAS Presidium was held on September 2 in Beijing. The CAS Presidium is the standing leading body of the CAS General Assembly, the highest organ of the CAS Academic Divisions (CASAD).     

Earth Observations in China and the World： History and Development in 50 Years

Remote sensing, which came into being at the first International Symposium on Remote Sensing of Environment （ISRSE） 50 years ago, has enabled people to obtain objecive and realistic spatial and temporal information through the application of Earth observation technologies and analyze and understand the macro-level changes of the Earth system from a spaial view. The technology of Earth observaion from space has incomparable advantages in the study of the Earth. This aricle introduces the 50-year development of Earth observaion in the world and the 30-year development of Earth observaion in China and reflects on the building of China＇s Earth observaion system.

Over 100 distinguished scientists and researchers from home and abroad, including Nobel Prize winners Samuel Chaochung Ting and Robert Huber,gathered on Oct. 20 at the Xiangshan Hotel in the west of Beijing to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Xiangshan Science Conference.     

Strive to Be a Powerhouse in China＇s S＆T Development——2010 Annual Meeting of CAS in Beijing

The 2010 annual conference of CAS opened on January 25 in Beijing. The three-day meeting reviewed the work of CAS over the past year and made arrangements for its tasks in the year ahead, with a focus on planning for the 12th fiveyear period （2011-2015） and the initiation of Innovation 2020 on a trial basis.     

CAS Researcher Awarded for Transgenic Technologies

Prof. Zhou Qi, a researcher of the CAS Institute of Zoology, was awarded the 2004 genOway Prize for Transgenic Technologies at the 5th TransTech-Meeting held from March 14 to 16at Uppsala, Sweden.     

中国田野考古行业人才紧缺的现状与反思

2021年是中国共产党诞生100周年,也是中国现代考古学诞生100周年。在“双百”周年之际,国家提倡要建设中国特色、中国风格、中国气派的考古学。考古学一时风头正盛,迎来了重大的历史机遇。然而,机遇与挑战并存,中国的一线田野考古还处于人才紧缺的现状,同时存在由此引发的种种问题。该文通过获取最新的行业资讯,结合作者自身多年的求学和从业经验,分析中国田野考古行业人才紧缺的主要原因以及由此引发的不良后果,并从制度层面提出了应对的解决策略,以期能够有效促进田野考古人才在社会上的合理流动,改变行业人才紧缺、高校毕业生就业困难的现状。

The new governing bodies of the CAS Academic Divisions （CASAD） were announced at the closing ceremony of the 14th General Assembly of CAS held on the morning of 27 June.     

The CAS Award for International Scientific Cooperation(2007-2016):Happy Tenth Anniversary

The 10~(th) CAS Award for International Scientific Cooperation goes to climatologist CHEN Deliang from the University of Gothenburg,physicist Earl Ward Plummer from Louisiana State University,and chemist Shavkat Salikhov from the Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences.     

中华全国专利代理人协会纪念成立20周年

中华全国专利代理人协会成立20周年庆祝大会於2008年12月17日在北京隆重召开,来自中央和地方知识产权管理机关、专利代理机构、兄弟协会的代表200余人出席。国家知识产权局局长田力普、中国版权协会理事长沈仁干首先致辞,对协会的作用及其成立20年来作出的成绩给予了高度的评价。沈仁干还回顾了协会第一届和第二届会长、已故的柳谷书先生马协会的创立和发展作出的重要贡献。     

国立科研机构科学传播体系建设的实践与思考——以中国科学院为例

文章以中国科学院为例,分析了当前社会语境下国立科研机构在科学传播体系建设方面的使命。在此基础上,回溯了中国科学院围绕"服务国家、服务社会、服务中心工作"开展的科学传播生动实践,从中总结出国立科研机构科学传播体系建设的必要性,阐释了科学传播体系建设的经验,并提出了政策建议。
