Convexity-preserving interpolation of trigonometric polynomial curves with a shape parameter

In computer aided geometric design(CAGD) ,it is often needed to produce a convexity-preserving interpolating curve according to the given planar data points. However,most existing pertinent methods cannot generate convexity-preserving in-terpolating transcendental curves;even constructing convexity-preserving interpolating polynomial curves,it is required to solve a system of equations or recur to a complicated iterative process. The method developed in this paper overcomes the above draw-backs. The basic idea is:first to construct a kind of trigonometric polynomial curves with a shape parameter,and interpolating trigonometric polynomial parametric curves with C2(or G1) continuity can be automatically generated without having to solve any system of equations or do any iterative computation. Then,the convexity of the constructed curves can be guaranteed by the appropriate value of the shape parameter. Performing the method is easy and fast,and the curvature distribution of the resulting interpolating curves is always well-proportioned. Several numerical examples are shown to substantiate that our algorithm is not only correct but also usable.

Surface reconstruction by offset surface filtering

The problem of computing a piecewise linear approximation to a surface from its sample has been a focus of research in geometry modeling and graphics due to its widespread applications in computer aided design. In this paper, we give a new algorithm, to be called offset surface filtering (OSF) algorithm, which computes a piecewise-linear approximation of a smooth surface from a finite set of cloud points. The algorithm has two main stages. First, the surface normal on every point is estimated by the least squares best fitting plane method. Second, we construct a restricted Delaunay triangulation, which is a tubular neighborhood of the surface defined by two offset surfaces. The algorithm is simple and robust. We describe an implementation of it and show example outputs.     

Where Next in Computer Aided Learning?

The paper is concerned with the use of the computer as a medium for teaching, a tool for learning and a manager of learning. Its special characteristic is seen to be its ability to take a non-trivial role in an interactive situation. The dramatic reduction in the cost of computer hardware is put forward as the major reason for the increasing importance of computer aided learning. The use of computers in support of both unstructured and structured learning situations is discussed. It is argued that the design methods used for the development of computer aided learning facilities need to be adaptive. It is further argued that appropriate hardware and software development tools need to be provided in order to enable adaptive design methods to be used. The particular importance of paying attention to the man-computer interface in designing computer aided learning systems is discussed. The need to be able to modify the interface after the system has been used by students is emphasized.

PMAC罗茨鼓风机扭叶转子加工数控系统研究

为实现罗茨鼓风机扭叶转子的专用数控加工,根据三叶扭叶转子的曲面特征,设计了一种新颖的数控铣削的方法,研制了基于PMAC的罗茨鼓风机扭叶转子加工试验台专用数控系统。系统上层控制软件采用模块化设计,并利用V isual Basic6.0开发了相应的人机界面和管理应用功能模块。调试的结果表明,系统软件运行稳定,实现了对了扭叶转子的铣削数控加工。
