Making a Kite
I like flying kites very much. One day, I made a kite by myself. First, I crossed (交叉) two sticks* and tied* them together with a string (细绳) . Then I drew a rabbit on a piece of paper, because rabbits are my favourite animal! Third, I glued (粘贴) the paper to the sticks. At last, I tied a string to the kite. And my kite was finished! It was so beautiful! I flew it in the sky. Wow! It could fly so high!  相似文献

Phone Dinner
One day, when I was at an airport waiting for my flight, I had to make a phone call. I looked around and found all the phones were busy. So I went to wait in line and stood there for a long time. The person talking on the phone was an old man and I could hear the conversation clearly. He was talking about his trip in this city. He said he was having a good time. He commented on(评论) the weather here and asked about the weather back there. While he was talking, he was eating a sandwich and drinking coffee.  相似文献

I was driving down the 1)reeway one afternoon, sometime in 1977. I was listening to the radio when the song Magdalena by Danny O'Keefe, sung by Leo Sayer, came on.I liked it immediately. My favorite line was "Your love is like a 2)razor.My heart is just a scar." As I continued to drive down the road the thought came,I don't agree with the 3)sentiment.I was younger then.I didn't think love is like a razor. What, then, did I think love is? Suddenly,it was as if someone had opened a window in the top of my head.Words came pouring in.I had to keep 4)reciting them to myself as I drove faster and faster towards home,so I wouldn't forget them.I 5)screeched into my drive way,ran into the house, and sat down at the piano.Ten minutes later,The Rose was there.  相似文献

As I walked home one freezing(极冷的) day,I stumbled on(偶然发现)a wallet some one had lost in the street.I picked it up and looked inside to find some identification(身份证明)so I could call the owner. But the wal let contained(含有)only three dollars and a crumpled(揉皱的)letter that looked as if(似乎,好象)it had been in there for years. The envelope was worn and the only thing that was legible(字迹清楚的)on it was the return ad- dress. I started to open the letter, hoping to find some clue(线索).Then I saw the date line-1924.The letter had been written almost sixty years earlier.  相似文献

I heard a story about two workers who were approached by a reporter. The reporter asked the first worker, "What are you doing? His response was to complain that he was virtually a slave, an underpaid(报酬过低的) bricklayer(砖匠)who spent his days wasting his time, placing bricks on top of one another. The reporter asked the second worker the same question. His response, however, was quite different. "I' m the luckiest person in the world, he said. "I get to be a part of important and beautiful pieces of architecture. I help turn simplepieces of brick into exquisite (精致的,完美的)masterpieces.  相似文献

I was screaming as the ground rushed towards me. I was sure that I was going to die. Suddenly I was awake, sweaty but amazingly alive. I was angry with myself.  相似文献

My grandfather was a teacher. He was the headteacher of a school for boys between the ages of thirteen and eighteen. I know that he was a kind and gentle man at heart, because when I was young(and he was old), he gave me presents, and sat me on his knee, and told me stories. But I believe the boys at his school were afraid of him.  相似文献

面对周围人的友善。生病的我内心深深领悟到了人生的美好。我坚信:一切都会好起来的。UCLA Medical Center was a big, scary place to aneleven-year-old who was away from home for the firsttime. The sounds and smell seemed foreign.Whiteshoes squeaked(吱吱声)on the highly pohshed(光亮的)floors.People were paged over an intercom, buzzers rang, andthe faint smell of alcohol seemed everywhere. In the bed next to me,and closest to the window, was ayoung girl about my age.The first thing I noticed about herwas her beautiful eves and bright smile.I wondered how shecould seem so happy in this strange place. She had gonethrough the glass of a sliding door(拉门)and had bandages(绷带)covering the stitches(缝线).I knew she had to be in somepain, but she WaS friendly and a welcome companion. It was the late 1950s and a tumor(瘤)had been discoveredin the bone marrow of my right ankle.  相似文献

Ten minutes later I was twenty dollars poorer, and the bookshelf was tied on to the roof rack.  相似文献
