High-tech industry has become the strategic and leading industry of the national economic and social development, and it is also the main driving force for economic growth and social progress in China. The Use of LDOCE4 on CD-ROM in EFL Students’ Writing: a Case Study

This case study examines the use of LDOCE4 on CD-ROM in EFL students’writing.Four participants at different proficiency levels were invited to write a composition on a given title.They were then asked to revise their compositions twice,first using the paper dictionary,and secondly using the CD-ROM.Based on a comparison of the two versions,the following conclusions were drawn:1 The CD-ROM is generally more beneficial to EFL students’writing than the paper dictionary.2 Al though the CD-ROM is helpful,it is not a panacea.3 The CD-ROM can provide little help to lower intermediate learners.     

Linear combination of derivative weighted composition operators

The relation between composition operators on the Dirichlet spaces in the open unit disk and derivative weighted composition operators on the Bergman spaces in the open unit disk is investigated firstly,and for a combination of several derivative weighted composition operators which acts on classic Bergman space,the lower bound of its essential norm is estimated in terms of the boundary data of the symbols of d-composition operators.Some similar results about composition operators on the Dirichlet space are also presented.A necessary condition is given to determine the compactness of the combination of several derivative weighted composition operators on Bergman spaces.     

In vitro simulation studies of silica deposition induced by lignin from rice

To reveal the possible mechanism of silica deposition in higher plants, lignin was isolated from rice straw following a modified method to conduct a simulation experiment in vitro. UV and infrared absorption spectra showed that the substance had the unique characteristics of pure lignin. The presence of silicon in the precipitation was revealed by TEM （transmission electron microscopy） with EDXA （energy dispersive X-ray analysis） device. It was found that in the borax solution where lignin precipitation occurred silica-lignin co-precipitation was produced but not in the DMSO solution where lignin was broken into its composition compounds and did not precipitate. This means that it is macromolecular lignin itself but not its compounds that could induce silica deposition in higher plants.

Influence of Magnetic Field on the Rectification Process of Binary Heterogeneous Azeotrope

To improve separate effect of binary heterogeneous azeotrope in the magnetic field with different magnetic induction intensity, the influence of magnetic field on the rectification process of binary heterogeneous azeotrope was investigated with l-butanol-water system. The results show that the composition of liquid-liquid phase equilibrium of l-butanol-water system has definitely changed, the composition of l-butanol in light phase （l-butanol layer） increases by 1. 17%-1.63% and the composition of water in heavy phase （water layer） increases by 1.21%-1.58% under the influence of magnetic field. By separation of magnetization, the composition of l-butanol increases by 0.8%-1.2% and the recovery ratio of 1 -butanol increases by 1.6%-2.5%. Magnetic field has positive effect, however, the magnetized effect is not in proportion to magnetic induction intensity and has an optimum condition, in the range of 0.25 T-0. 3 T.
