The opening ceremony of the Nansen-Zhu International Research Centre (NZC) was held on November 4 in Beijing. High-ranking officials from the Chinese and Norwegian governments and the Royal Norwegian Embassy took part in the ceremony. Nobel Laureate Honored with Chair at CAS Institute

Nobel laureate Prof. Daniel C.Tsui, of Princeton University, received an honorary title of chair of the CAS Institute of Physics during a visit to the Beijing institute on Nov. 17. He also agreed to set up a chair for which he will invite a visiting first-class scientist to the institute each year.     

CAS, Shanghai, Pasteur to Jointly Set Up a New Institute

An agreement for jointly establishing the CAS Institut Pasteur of Shanghai was signed on August 30 in east China‘s Shanghai Municipality. Representatives from the collaborative partners,including Shanghai Vice Mayor Yan Junqi, CAS Vice President Chen Zhu and President of Institut Pasteur Philippe Kourilsky witnessed the signing ceremony.     

International Cooperation at CAS Since 1998

Since 1998 when the Knowledge Innovation Program （KIP） was launched, the rapid development of CAS has offered great opportunities to forge international cooperation. Focusing on capacity building to effectively absorb global innovation resources and through organizing major innovative activities, CAS has increasingly expanded and intensified international partnerships. As a result, a batch of key projects has been developed, CAS scientists have taken posts in international organizations, and important international conferences have convened in China. Meanwhile, CAS has made breakthroughs in terms of international exchanges and collaborations, with significant impacts on the international scientific community.
