Listening to excluded young people's experiences of e-safety and risk

This article reports on excluded young people's experiences with and management of e-safety and risk. It has importance in exploring these concerns given that excluded young people's voices are very often absent in education and technology research and yet they are potentially more at risk when using Information and Communication Technologies than middle-class young people for whom the risks may be lower. The findings are drawn from an analysis of the in-depth qualitative interviews carried out with 13 permanently and temporarily excluded young people between the ages of 12–15 in a Pupil Referral Unit in South East England. The accounts given by this group of young people suggest that the strategies they deploy to manage their safety online are underdeveloped and inadequate. This points in turn to a need for further interventions to foster and develop these young people's strategies to avoid online risk as part of more general initiatives to develop digital literacy.

Short-term traffic safety forecasting using Gaussian mixture model and Kalman filter

In this paper, a prediction model is developed that combines a Gaussian mixture model (GMM) and a Kalman filter for online forecasting of traffic safety on expressways. Raw time-to-collision (TTC) samples are divided into two categories: those representing vehicles in risky situations and those in safe situations. Then, the GMM is used to model the bimodal distribution of the TTC samples, and the maximum likelihood (ML) estimation parameters of the TTC distribution are obtained using the expectation-maximization (EM) algorithm. We propose a new traffic safety indicator, named the proportion of exposure to traffic conflicts (PETTC), for assessing the risk and predicting the safety of expressway traffic. A Kalman filter is applied to forecast the short-term safety indicator, PETTC, and solves the online safety prediction problem. A dataset collected from four different expressway locations is used for performance estimation. The test results demonstrate the precision and robustness of the prediction model under different traffic conditions and using different datasets. These results could help decision-makers to improve their online traffic safety forecasting and enable the optimal operation of expressway traffic management systems.

防灾减灾课程是应急管理专业的基础课,但在目前国内应急管理专业教材体系尚未健全的情况下,如何建设好应急管理专业的防灾减灾课程,成为专业发展所面临的最重要任务之一。本文分析了防灾减灾课程在应急管理专业课程体系中的位置,以及建设防灾减灾课程面临的困难和挑战,提出了构建该课程体系的主要思路,明确了课程建设的努力方向。     

体外受精-胚胎移植护理安全隐患的原因分析及对策

目的：探讨体外受精-胚胎移植（以下简称IVF—ET）护理安全隐患的原因及防范措施。方法：回顾性分析200个周期的临床资料及护理措施。结果：200个周期无护理差错及事故的发生,均符合国家人类辅助生殖技术的法律法规,仅有2例已进入周期治疗中的患者,发现证件不符合要求,后已及时追踪按要求补办,对患者治疗未造成影响。结论：对IVF—ET护理安全隐患的原因进行分析并采取有效的防范措施,能够减少甚至杜绝护理不良事件的发生,提高护理安全质量。
