An Investigation of English Writing Anxiety Among English Majors

With Daly,Horwitz and Y-S-Cheng’s theoretical model of second language writing anxiety as research framework,this thesis surveyed English majors’English writing anxiety.Findings of the present study show that all of the English major stu dents experience English writing anxiety.There is no significant difference in English anxiety among students from three different grades.There is significant difference in English writing anxiety between the students who hold positive attitudes towards English writing and those who hold negative attitudes towards English writing and there is significant difference in English writing anxi ety among students who rated their English writing good,average and bad.Results from the qualitative study show the reasons why there is little difference in English writing anxiety among students from three different grades.What’s more,it is shown that the poor writing skills,cognitive anxiety,test anxiety and erroneous beliefs toward English writing are the main sources of Eng lish writing anxiety.

英语新闻中话语标记语的使用对比研究——以新疆英语新闻和BBC-home News为例

该文以新疆英语新闻为语料,以BBC-home News作为参照,旨在探究新疆英语新闻语篇中话语标记语的使用特点和规律。研究结果发现:第一,新疆英语新闻和BBC-home News在新闻语篇中使用的话语标记语不同,与BBC-home News相比,新疆英语新闻在使用话语标记语的数量方面较多,种类方面较少。第二,新疆英语新闻对少数附加性和时间性标记语使用过度,对某些选择性、强调性、和对比性标记语如or,very,but使用过少,对总结性标记语和无明确含义填充语没有使用。该研究对新疆英语新闻工作者有启示意义。     

交际策略研究及其培训启示

我国高校的外语教学长期以来一直把重点放在对学生的语言技能培养上,但是根据教育部印发的《大学英语课程教学要求》,交际能力培养成为了教学重点之一,而交际策略是提高交际能力的重要手段。本文在介绍国外交际策略的理论框架及其分类基础上,探讨交际策略是否具有可教性,并就未来外语教学中的交际策略培训提出见解。

An investigation of Communication Strategies used in Dialogues by Chinese English Major Students

This paper,through analyzing students’conversations based on SWECCL(Wen Qiufang etc,2005),makes an attempt to examine the use of CSs(Communication Strategies)by Chinese students in English major.The results show that the students are not competent in employing CSs,which is easily seen in their heavy reliance on Stalling and Reduction CSs.What’s more,the CSs of L2-based are rarely employed in students’ conversations.Apart from the above CSs,students who are in high proficiency group have more inclination to use Cooperation CS,while those who are in low proficiency group are more likely to turn to the CSs of Reduction,Substitution,and Literal Translation.     

英语专业新生语言学习观念差异的影响因素分析

通过对某大学英语专业新生语言学习观念的问卷调查,采用定量分析方法分析了新生语言学习观念差异背后的原因.分析结果表明,当今大学生对语言学习本质的理解更全面,他们意识到语言学习不仅要学语法、词汇而且要提高综合技能,尤其是交际能力的培养;他们的工具型动机较弱而融入型动机较强;不同外语水平的学生只在语言学习本质、语言学习动机观念上存在显著性差异.
