In this article we examine the complex relationship between care experience, mental health and exclusion from school and how young people (YP) negotiate these different experiences and identities. The study is a secondary analysis, informed by symbolic interactionist theory, of interviews conducted with 19 care experienced YP in Scotland. Not all of the YP were excluded and not all had a formal mental health diagnosis, as such our study design allows interrogation of the contexts and relationships which not only facilitate but also disrupt pathways to exclusion. It also allows reconsideration of assumptions of vulnerability which are often applied to care experienced YP. Our findings suggest that these YP are moving beyond ‘role playing’ the identities ascribed to them and actively seek out relationships which enable them to construct alternative identities.  相似文献

In an increasingly globalized and culturally diverse world, extended stays abroad during high school are considered important opportunities for acquiring and improving a variety of skills, most importantly, language achievement. This study examines both predictors and effects of studying abroad in an English-speaking country during high school, using population data from the second largest city in Germany (N = 5361; 13% went abroad). In order to determine the most central predictors of studying abroad, we employed logistic regression models in which students’ socioeconomic background emerged as the strongest predictor of studying abroad. To test the effects of studying abroad, we applied propensity score matching. Studying abroad had positive effects on standardized achievement, grades, and course choice in English, whereas it had hardly any effects on outcomes in math. Implications for studying abroad during high school and future research directions are discussed.  相似文献

Consensual sexual harassment on Iranian campuses is getting prevalent; however, this phenomenon has not been examined yet. This study contributed to the area and investigated the sexual relationships shapes, the behaviour of Iranian faculty members and female college students, and the consequences of sexual harassment for the victims, even in its consensual form. Hence, the phenomenological qualitative method was applied to explore the experiences of 10 female graduate students. The data were collected through online in-depth interviews due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In line with the theoretical framework proposed by Terpstra and Baker (1986), the interpretive phenomenological analysis revealed three themes of Onset, Sexual treatment, and After effects. According to the results, the basic needs of the females and the professors’ leering seduced the females to enter into sexual relationships. The results also reflected the academic and psychological consequences of sexual harassment on the victims’ future. The findings have some implications for higher education policymakers, university chancellors, and governmental officials.  相似文献

Abstract

Supporting global health priorities through the development of robust health science librarianship partnerships is of significant importance. Increased demand for synthesizing evidence-based information, collating quality resources, and increasing research productivity to improve human health requires integration of library and information science skills and expertise. The Health Sciences Library (HSL) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC), exists to be an indispensable partner in health information and knowledge, teaching and learning, and research. As global efforts at UNC expanded, the HSL sought to ensure that our global engagement strategy and integration were aligned with campus priorities and partner needs. The HSL created a global research partnership plan: identify resources that improve efficiency, increase access to information, build in-country capacity and expertise—all while strengthening collaborations across multiple countries. Creating a meaningful and sustainable engagement strategy was central to envisioning our path forward and can be used as a framework for consideration by librarians in similar settings.  相似文献

[目的/意义] 旨在对在线健康社区用户的个人健康信息管理行为特征进行分析,并在此基础上,对"平台-PHIM-健康目标"这一模式中的元素之间的关系进行探讨。[方法/过程] 选择患有红斑狼疮的在线健康社区用户作为调查对象。采用聚类方法对个人健康信息管理行为的总体测度水平不同的群体进行识别;利用单因素方差分析(One-way ANOVA)对不同群组进行比较研究。[结果/结论] 将依托在线健康社区进行的个人健康信息管理行为界定为健康信息发现、健康信息互动和健康信息分享。从数据分析结果来看,首先,在线健康社区的红斑狼疮患者在个人健康信息管理行为水平上存在显著的高低差异。第二,用户所感知到的社会支持与其个人健康信息管理水平存在正相关关系。第三,个人健康信息管理与用户健康目标之间存在正相关关系。本研究为在线健康社区完善其服务方式,促进慢性病人个人健康信息管理水平提高提供合理建议。  相似文献

古代汉语中,"来"的用法异常复杂,仅其助词属性下就又可以细分出六七种不同的用法,但这些用法大多并未能沿用到现代汉语共同语中,这也包括用作动态助词的"来"。从历时发展来看,动态助词"来"产生之后,在唐五代、宋元、明清三个阶段的使用并未呈现出持续上升的态势,而是在共同语中逐渐衰落了,今天仅在偏南方的一些方言中还有所使用。作为动态助词,"来"的衰落动因是多方面的,既有"来"自身功能负担过重,以及在使用中受限制过多的内因作用,也有系统内部成员竞争的外因作用。  相似文献

This study examined the effects of a syllable-based reading intervention for German second graders who demonstrated difficulties in the recognition of written words. The intervention focused on fostering word reading via syllable segmentation. The materials consisted of the 500 most frequent syllables typically read by 6- to 8-year-old children. The aims were to practice phonological recoding, consolidate orthographic representations of syllables, and routinize the access to these representations. Compared to children randomly assigned to a wait-list group, poor readers in the treatment condition showed significant improvements in standardized measures of phonological recoding, direct word recognition, and text-based reading comprehension after the 24-session intervention. Poor readers in the treatment condition also showed greater improvements in development of word recognition compared to children with efficient word recognition skills. The results provide evidence that a syllable-based reading intervention is a promising approach to increase struggling readers’ word recognition skills, which in turn will improve their reading comprehension.  相似文献

体育是美国人生活中不可或缺的一部分,发达的体育文化为美国小镇体育的繁荣奠定了基础。研究以美国体育小镇为对象,运用文献资料、实地考察、逻辑分析及ArcGIS地理信息绘图等方法和技术对美国体育小镇进行了研究。结果表明:美国体育小镇的布局属非均匀化发展,存在东强西弱,南强北弱的特点且表现出"马太效应"。进而从社会学的角度分析了美国体育小镇运行的外部环境和内在动力机制,并以典型案例对体育小镇运行特点进行了剖析。建议我国体育小镇的建设应从目标引领、政策驱动、环境支持、形成正反馈循环和塑造灵魂等方面思考以推动体育小镇的建设。  相似文献
