'She just got me’: supporting care experienced young people negotiating relationships and identities at school

In this article we examine the complex relationship between care experience, mental health and exclusion from school and how young people (YP) negotiate these different experiences and identities. The study is a secondary analysis, informed by symbolic interactionist theory, of interviews conducted with 19 care experienced YP in Scotland. Not all of the YP were excluded and not all had a formal mental health diagnosis, as such our study design allows interrogation of the contexts and relationships which not only facilitate but also disrupt pathways to exclusion. It also allows reconsideration of assumptions of vulnerability which are often applied to care experienced YP. Our findings suggest that these YP are moving beyond ‘role playing’ the identities ascribed to them and actively seek out relationships which enable them to construct alternative identities.     

Breaking Down Barriers for Student Parents and Caregivers with Family-Friendly Library Spaces

Abstract

In 2016, J. Murrey Atkins Library at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte opened a reservable study room where student parents and caregivers can study with their children on campus. In 2018, the library opened a second family-friendly study room to meet the needs of our growing campus community. To inform the room design, the library conducted a mixed methods research study that included a user survey, an examination of room reservation and usage data, and one-on-one user interviews. This paper focuses on the user-centered design process used to inform the development of the second, family-friendly, library study room.     

基于专利引用跨越度计量的两国间间接创新合作机会发现

[目的/意义] 两个国家间的创新合作机会有些是显性直接的，有些是潜在间接的。在此试图构建一种计量和分析专利引用关系的方法，用于发现两国间潜在的间接创新合作机会。[方法/过程] 全球价值链上不同环节专利之间的引用关系中，蕴含着相互衔接、配套的间接合作关系，而不同环节的专利通常具有不同的功能，即IPC存在一定跨越度。因此，设计"专利引用跨越度"指标及算法，用于计量和筛选专利引用网络中"引用跨越度"达到预设阈值的专利引用关系，作为发现间接创新合作机会的基础数据。以新加坡在中国获得授权的发明专利为样本，基于专利引用跨越度计量并配合人工解读和识别，发现中新两国间一系列的间接创新合作机会。[结果/结论] 基于专利引用跨越度计量的两国间间接创新合作机会发现的方法，被实验检验为有效。     

学术论文研究亮点的语言学特征与分布规律研究

[目的/意义] 论文出版过程中，若能够合理有效地呈现出一篇学术论文的核心观点，不仅可以大大减少科研人员在查找和筛选文献上花费的时间，而且有助于阅读与理解。[方法/过程] 通过标注385篇XML格式期刊论文，构建了研究语料库，再利用关键词分析法对亮点的语言学特征进行分析，借助自然语言处理算法探索亮点的分布特征。[结果/结论] 亮点是一组规范的、语义明确的短句的集合，是一篇学术论文与其他论文相比较的新观点、新视角、新方法、新思路、新结果、新结论等内容的体现。亮点具有新颖性、简明性、易读性、"宣传"性等特点。亮点分为研究创新型亮点、研究方法型亮点、研究过程型亮点与研究结论型亮点，本文发现了亮点在正文和各章节的分布情况。     

Parents’ son preference,childhood adverse experience and mental health in old age: Evidence from China

BackgroundSon preference is an enduring phenomenon in China and may often be related to childhood adverse experiences. According to a life-course perspective, adverse experiences during a childhood period may have a long-term effect on mental health in later age. However, little is known about this relationship between parents’ son preference, childhood adverse experiences and adulthood mental health in China.ObjectiveThe study aims to evaluate the association of parents’ son preference and individual mental health in old age in China. The mediating role of childhood adverse experiences was also estimated.Participants and settingThe China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) 2015 combined with CHARLS life history survey was analyzed (N = 11,666).MethodsMental health was measured by a shortened modification of the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression scale including seven items, and higher scores indicated worse mental health status. A four-step mediating model was applied.ResultsRespondents growing in families with son preference had on average 0.75 (P < 0.001) points higher on the mental health scale than their counterparts, and the effects were consistent for both males and females. Childhood adverse experiences measured by physical maltreatment, emotional adverse experiences and witnesses of inter-parent violence mediated the relationship between parents’ son preference and individual adulthood mental health by 47.87%. For females, physical maltreatment and emotional adverse experiences explained the most parts of health effects of parents’ son preference, whereas witnesses of inter-parent violence was the most influential mediator for males.ConclusionParents’ son preference led to adverse childhood experiences, which influenced mental health in adulthood.     

The balancing act of social enterprise: An IT emergence perspective

The significance of IT in the context of non-digital social enterprises (SEs) and its influence on the viability of such SEs have been less studied themes in information systems research. In the era of ubiquitous IT, SEs have increasing pressures to cope with the ever-dynamic technological domain while balancing their dual objectives. Data from a single revelatory case of Jaipur Rugs (JR), an SE situated in a developing country context (India), is used to fathom the peculiarities of the SE context with a focus on the sociomaterial phenomena of IT emergence. Using the three fundamental notions of sociomateriality theory (relationality, performativity, and practice) this interpretive study understands the mechanisms underlying the SE’s attempt to balance its financial and social sustainability objectives. Through the innovative use of IT, the SE establishes and maintains shared value, yielding stability and efficiency to the business (financial viability) while simultaneously ensuring scalability and effectiveness of their social impact. This study strengthens the perspective of IT as an emergent phenomenon situated in sociomaterial practices and fills a gap in organizational literature by examining such phenomenon in the rich context of SEs where achieving the balance between dual goals is increasingly dependent on non-human (IT) agents.

对体育系男学生(20名)在安静状态、小于通气阈强度负荷运动后即刻1min的脑电变化进行测试得出结论：小于通气阈强度运动在一定程度上对大脑皮质产生影响，增进了大脑细胞新陈代谢强度，可改善大脑皮质神经元代谢能力，可改善和提高脑皮层神经细胞工作能力。     

三种强度运动对脑电地形图影响的比较研究

采用实验研究方法，对体育系男学生(20名)在安静状态、小于通气阈强度、通气阈强度、大于通气阈强度负荷后即刻1min的脑电变化进行测试。结论：通气阈强度运动在一定程度上对大脑皮质产生影响，增进了大脑细胞新陈代谢强度，可改善大脑皮质神经元代谢能力，使其产生复杂的生理效应和训练效应，对脑皮层神经细胞工作能力的改善和提高很显著；大于通气阈强度运动后易使中枢神经细胞产生疲劳。     

奥运会的经济价值分析以及对北京举办奥运会的借鉴意义

2008年北京奥运会的举行将大大加快北京地区乃至我国的经济现代化建设的步伐。应用实证研究的方法，对历届奥运会的经济价值进行分析，指出举办奥运会对促进北京地区乃至全国的经济增长、改善劳动力就业，加快产业结构调整的积极作用。同时从资金筹措、场馆建设、产业可持续发展等方面对北京避免奥运会后可能出现的“经济低谷效应”，实现可持续发展提出了建议。     

论儒家体育的审美价值

采用文献资料、逻辑分析等方法 ,通过对儒家体育审美价值取向的反思 ,构建体育审美教育的新人文精神 ,当代体育审美教育应塑造全面的、有文化批判精神的人。研究认为 ,儒家从人的社会性角度去规范体育的审美价值 ,以“修身为本”、“齐之以礼”、“义以为上”作为体育的审美价值取向 ,儒家体育强调道德体验的审美价值 ,使体育成为泛化的道德训化 ,失去了原来的孔、孟思想中自由而发的生气和严肃的认识批判立场。
