Development of Higher Education Accreditation System in the USA

Accreditation is a primary means to assure the quality of higher education institutions and education programs in the United States. Since the 1990s, with the development of society and the popularization of technology, many changes and reforms outside and inside higher education have taken place. Facing the changing situation, higher education accreditation system was rectified in its policy and practice. This article introduces the context and the effect of higher education accreditation system reforms,aiming to provide some references to our country's higher education quality assurance system.
