The Attitude on the Shantung Question of the British Government at the Paris Peace Conference

This paper is mainly based on the British Documents on Foreign Affairs.With the discussion about the changing attitudes of the British government towards China,Japan and the Far East at the Paris Peace Conference,the details and the cause of the change have been analyzed.It was unavoidable for China's loss of her rights in Shantung at the peace conference.However,Chinese deputies had fully explained the great significance of the Shantung Question for the peace of the world by applying the principles of the universal axiom and the peace.Such efforts had exerted a positive influence on the western world.Their refusal of the signature with Germany had facilitated the British government to adopt a new attitude towards the Chinese foreign affairs and the Shantung Question.
