| Abstract: | The Broad-sensed theory of searching meanings through sounds which includes three parts respectively:Shengxun in ancient time,the theory of Youwen in Song Dynasty and the theory of searching meanings through sounds in Qing Dynasty.This article discusses its development and the relations between the three parts from the angle of the theories of etymology and word families.In addition,The paper compares the broad-sensed theory of searching meanings through sounds with the theories of etymology and word families. |
