Intensify Basic Education Reform in China

In June 1999,China's central authorities promulgated a "Decision on the Deepening of Educational Reform and the Full Promotion of Quality-oriented Education," stressing that,rather than doing well in examinations,students should develop their competence in other important aspects,ranging from creativity,moral thinking,general knowledge and practical skills to culture and physical fitness.
