论中法交涉宗藩权与保护权之争的实质

The Nature of Contention over Vietnam about Subordinate Rights or Protective Rights between China and France

The focus of negotiation over Vietnam problem between China and France is whether subordinate rights or protective rights. China defends subordinate rights, which means to uphold the subordinate relation safeguarding China's southwest from French forces' entering Yunnan and Guizhou provinces; but France imposed protective rights on Vietnam with a purpose to make Vietnam break away from China, turning Vietnam into its colony, thus invading Yunnan and Guizhou. So the dispute over subordinate rights or protective rights is actually a contention of anti-colonist and colonist. It's also a struggle of fighting against invasion of France. Though Vietnam finally became a colony of France, the justice of Chinese people's fighting against France will last forever.
