"美国史全球化运动"评述

全球史的勃兴已经引起国际史坛的广泛瞩目。但过去其影响基本限于世界史学科范围内,而近来,“全球史观”在美国竟波及“美国本土史”的研究,以至形成“美国史全球化运动”(movement of globalizing American history)。这一动向是非常值得关注的。本文即对这场运动的来龙去脉略作梳理,并说明其学术旨趣及面临的挑战。

A Review of the Movement of Globalizing American History

The rise of global history has aroused widespread attention in the history profession around the world. For the past few decades, the impact of global history has been confined to the historiography of world history; yet in recent years, the global history perspective has made itself felt in efforts to reform local American history and gradually picks up momentum to form the movement of globalizing American history. This paper offers a comprehensive review of the movement, including its history, theoretical framework, major shifts of orientation in American history teaching and research, as well as an anticipation of possible challenges.
