Abstract:As a text admired crazily by feminists,Jane Eyre, whose heroine Jane Eyre undoubtedly owns the right of saying . Besides, Mr. Rochester, the hero of this novel, also has the discourse power to some extent for his attribution to the development of Jane Eyre's character and the whole plot. However, the mysterious, mad woman, Bertha Mason ,who is the unique key person and plays an important role in the novel, is totally deprived of the right of saying and that caused her to be the Other of Silence. This essay, therefore, is dedicated to display the value of saying to the figures' identities and their existence through the discussion of the discourse power in Jane Eyre.
Keywords:Jane Eyre  saying  discourse  discourse power
