文化视野中的中国大学百年——《中国大学1895--1995：一个文化冲突的世纪》解读

许美德教授试图通过文化的角度来获得对中国大学百年历史的一种阐释性认识。她借助韦伯的“理想型”，抽离出自治权和学术自由这一对概念，在此基础上分析了中西文化以及高等教育的差异。她通过叙事的方式展示了中国大学百年来在两种文化下经历的冲突、借鉴和融合。最后，她期望中国大学在吸收这一百年来调和中国与西方、传统与现代之矛盾与冲突的成功经验上，可以形成自己独特的模式，即真正的中国大学模式。

Chinese Universities from the Perspective of Cultural Conflict:Interpretation of Chinese Universities 1895-1995:A Century of Cultural Conflict

Professor Ruth Hayhoe tried to interpret Chinese universities in the 1895--1995 period from the an- gle of culture studies. She distilled academic autonomy and academic freedom with Max Weber＇s ideal type. On this basis, she analyzed the differences between China and the West in culture and higher education. Then she related the cultural conflict, lesson and hybrid, experienced by Chinese universities in the 100 years. Fi- nally, she expected there to be a Chinese university mode based on the historical experience in making suc- cessful compromise between China and the West as well as between tradition and modernity.
