On Reasons for the Rising of American Middle-class New Women in the 1920s

The history of American middle-class new women in the 1920s is an important field of study. Middle-class new women in this decade launched an amazing fashion revolution, challenged the traditional social values, subverted the traditional female norms and brought about great changes in the social values and way of life of mainstream middle-class culture. This essay discusses the reasons for the rising of American middle-class new woman in the 1920s from the perspectives of industrialization and urbanization, education opportunity and consumption culture, thus presenting a true picture of the history of middle- class women during this period.
