音乐学是艺术科学的分支学科之一,它既具有纯科学的一面又具有社会学的一面.自远古先民到当今社会,人类历来都重视音乐的社会功能.但作为社会的人,我们既不要把音乐看得高于一切,也不能忽视音乐对社会影响和作用.没有音乐的社会是沉寂荒凉的,没有音乐教育的教育是干瘪而粗糙的.我们要正确理解“移风易俗,莫善于乐”和“非乐”的对立与统一.

How to Recognize the Social Function of Music

Musical Science is a branch subject of arts.It has not only the feature of pure science but also that of sociology.People have attached importance to the social function of music since remote antiquity.As a human being living in this society,we cannot see music higher than everthing else,but we cannot ignore the social effect and function of music either.The society without music is dull and desolate.Education without musical education is insipid and rough.However,lascivious music is harm to human being and the society.In other words,we need to correctly understand about the unity and opposites between "transform social tradition by enjoying good and healthy music" and non-music.
