“臭味相投”的“臭”读音辨析

成语“臭味相投”的“臭”历来有xiu和chou两种口语读音。语文工具书也存在这两种不同的注音。这种读音的分歧和“臭”的词义引申以及感情色彩由中性趋向贬义有关。我们认为“臭味相投，，的“臭”读音应该规范统一，如果追本溯源，尊重本音和古音，“臭”可以读xiu；如果从俗从便．遵从其今日常见读音，可以读chou。根据《普通话异读词审音表》对“臭”读音的审定和所举例证．我们认为“臭味相投”的“臭”应该读xiu，并以此音为规范读音，以便辞书编纂修订、学校教学、新闻媒体播音、电脑汉字输入和广大群众口头运用时统一读音。

Differentiating and analyzing pronunciation of ＂臭＂ in ＂臭味相投＂ .

Abstract： The word ＂臭＂ in ＂臭味相投＂ historically has two kinds of pronunciation, namely ＂thou＂ and ＂xiu＂, even in some Chinese reference hooks. The divaricating of pronunciation makes its meaning and sensational aspect change from neutral sense to derogatory one. It＇s necessary to standardize the pronunciation of ＂臭＂. If getting at the root of the matter trace to its source, ＂臭＂ should be read ＂xiu＂; if following the convention, convenience, and present pronunciation ; it should be read ＂chou＂. Depending on the approving and exemplification in The List of Examining on Same Words with Different Pronunciation in Putonghua, this paper thinks that ＂臭＂ in ＂臭味相投＂ should be read ＂xiu＂ rather than ＂chou＂, and it should be consistent whatever in dictionary compilation, school-teaching, news media broadcasting, program of Chinese Character＇s input in computer, and spoken language.
