新国家与新国民--梁启超新民理论述评

戊戌维新后,梁启超东渡日本,发表长篇著作《新民说》。其时,深受民主思潮影响的梁启超开始从新的角度审视中国的变革事业,得出“欲维新吾国,当先维新吾民”^[1](P272)的结论,把国民素质的改造作为建设资本主义新型国家的先决条件和根本途径提上了议事日程,亦由此凸现了人的近代化在中国近代化事业中的核心地位。

New Country and New People

The Constitutional Reform and Modernization of 1898,Liangqichao took a sea voyage eastward Japan. He published a full lengthwork which was about the reform of the new people' quality. Liangqichao was deeply influenced bydemocratic ideology at thattime, and he was beginning to rethink the reform career of China from a new angle. He drewn a conclusion that if youwant to reform the country, you must reform the people first, and thought that the improvement of the people' quality is the most important factor to the construction of the new country.
