林逋孤山植梅事迹辨

林逋隐居孤山,以咏梅著称于世,遂有所谓＂梅妻鹤子＂之说。但林逋咏梅八首律诗中,所写多称＂小梅＂、＂孤根＂、＂一枝＂。同时文人造访其所,所见也以松竹为主,由此可见其隐所植梅不多。整个北宋时期孤山梅花分布也极有限。所谓＂梅妻鹤子＂说也不见于宋人著作,是后世的想象之辞。

Clarifying the Anecdote of Lin Bu's Planting Plum Trees in the Isolated Hill

Lin Bu lived a reclusive live in the Isolated Hill and he is famous for his poems about plum blossom,so there is the anecdote of his ＂taking plum blossom as his wife and a crane his son＂.However,what has been mentioned in his eight poems about plum blossom is only the ＂little plum＂,＂lonely root＂,＂one branch＂,etc.And what had been seen by those who had visited him in his residence were mainly bamboos and pine trees,thus he was not accompanied by many plum trees in his reclusion.Furthermore,during the whole Song Dynasty the spreading of plum trees in Isolated Hill area was quite limited.The legendary ＂taking plum blossom as his wife and a crane his son＂ has never appeared in any works of the Song Dynasty,it＇s only an imagination created by later generations.
