| Abstract: | English idiom is the kemel of the language treasure-house of English and it is a mirror reflecting a cultural scene of the western society. This paper aims to study the emergence, cultural connotation and rhetorical features of the English idioms so as to prove the universal principle that language is the carrier of culture but is restricted by culture. |
