摘    要:liberal arts或liberal education是西方教育史上最重要的概念。但这两个概念又非常复杂,难以把握。本研究试图从概念史的方法入手,将这两个概念的历史分成若干阶段,通过对相关经典文本的解读,把握它们在不同历史阶段的内涵和外延。

Abstract:The term liberal arts or liberal education is one of the most important concepts in western education. These two terms have a long and complicated history. This paper divides the history of these two terms into several phases, and tries to clear the nature and scope of "liberal arts" and "liberal education" in different phases through textual analysis.
