体育传媒语言中的性别不对称现象之研究

摘    要:性别不对称现象在体育媒体语言中并不鲜见,但几乎总是对女性不利。女子运动和赛事名称常常是性别标记的,女子运动员的美貌比起其运动成绩来似乎更为媒体所津津乐道,女子运动员依然被描述成在身体和智力方面劣于男子。语言中性别不对称之原因不在语言本身,而在其外部。标记象似原则认为标记成分具有额外、不寻常和意外等意义,性别标记亦然;社会学认为,性别标记是由社会构建的。本文选取体育媒体语言为切入点,例举其在涉及性别时所表现出的不对称现象,主要以标记象似原则并结合社会语言学等相关理论来阐释其存在的社会理据。

Abstract:In sports media gender asymmetry is not infrequent,but it is almost always to the disadvantage of women.Women's games are so designated that they are usually gender-marked,women athletes are still reportedly the weaker sex in terms of intelligence as well as physical ability,and more attention is given by sports media to women athletes' appearances than to their athletic performance.The rationale behind gender asymmetry in sport media does not consist in language itself,but rather outside of it.Iconicity of markedness states that the marked elements convey added,unusual,and unexpected meanings,and so does gender-markedness,which,in accordance with sociology,is socially constructed.The present article cites examples of gender asymmetry in sport media and accounts for its social and cultural motivation by chiefly applying the concept of iconicity of markedness.
