On the Cultivation of College Students＇ Cultural Communicative Competence ---Thoughts on the Reform of College Foreign Language Teaching

Through the analyses of the problems of college foreign language teaching in the background of current international exchanges, the thesis proposes that language teaching and study should give emphasis to the cultivation of students＇ practical communicative competence, thus realising the goal of understanding culture, conveying ideas, building personality and promoting communication. The thesis illustrates the new roles and tasks of both teachers and students in the reform of college foreign language teaching under new circumstances, explores appropriate ways of talents training, and discusses issues about taxonomy of college English teaching.
