The Necessity and Significance of the Development and Utilization of National Minority Traditional Sports and Cultural Resources in Southwest China

With the increasing emphasis on the traditional culture of China, more and more people pay attention to the unique ethnic minority areas. During the long course of historical development the ethnic minori- ties of southwest China have created a wealth of traditional culture, whose factors played an important role in the development of local peoples. However, in the context of modern culture, its previous social functions are becoming weak. The paper discusses the necessity and significance of the development and utilization of national minority traditional sports and cultural resources in southwest China with a view to providing some reference for the current protection and utilization of the traditional sports and cultural resources of ethnic minorities.
