Collaborative work model based on peer-to-peer network

In this paper, we incorporated peer-to-peer (P2P) concept with agent technology and put forward a collaborative work model based on peer-to-peer network (P2PCWM) after investigating into business demands of modern enterprises and problems prevailing in mainstream collaborative work systems based on central server. Theoretically, the P2PCWM can effectively overcome the problems in a conventional system with a central server and meet the practical demands of modern businesses. It is distinguished from other systems by its features of equality, openness, promptness, fairness, expandability and convenience.     

Characteristics of electricity consumption of different industry types considering atmospheric condition

Reducing greenhouse gases (RHG) is going on actively in the international movement. In the field of architecture, RHG is an inevitable work. To establish a plan for RHG, firstly we need to reduce energy consumption. Greenhouse gas generated by energy consumption is the main cause of global warming. For this we should know that how much electricity consumption we use. The research targets of this study are commercial buildings with various businesses. Their electricity consumption was analyzed by business units rather than buildings. Each business was divided into 13 sectors according to industrial classification and electricity consumption was analyzed for each industry. For commercial buildings, the electricity consumption is done by the private sector and construction management is an autonomy system in private instead of an integrated management system. In this study, we classified and analyzed the electricity consumption characteristics according to collected data, analyzed the relationship between the electricity consumption with atmospheric temperature through SPSS, and developed an electricity prediction model.

Transitivity and Sensitivity on Uniform Maps

Our results improve and extend the existing results. Moreover, we give a example which shows that the several results in [8] are all wrong.

New method of improving parts accuracy by adding heat balance support in selective laser sintering

In order to improve parts accuracy, a method of adding heat balance support （HBS） was proposed, and the detailed algorithm for generating HBS was developed. A number of experiments and a comparison between similar softwares, showed that the algorithm is efficient and feasible. Moreover, different features of riBS were studied for different kinds of materials, such as PS and nylon. The research findings indicate that automatically adding HBS can significantly improve the accuracy of the parts, and that the algorithm for generating HBS is efficient and precise.     

Organizing, Teaching, and Assessing for Student Success in Introductory College Physics

As part of a doctoral dissertation, Ben （2010） completed a study that extends to 462 pages. After a careful examination of this study and others that are in print, there seems to be a direct relationship between the decline in physics enrollment at the postsecondary level and the increase in the number of studies that have been carried out to determine why have we been off the mark in identifying the real problems that are contributing to the declining enrollment and the decreased student success in physics courses？ One problem is introductory physics books are generally written using a deductive approach, and because the teachers follow the organization of these books, they teach in a deductive, boring, and confusing way, and then, blame the students for being unprepared when they do not succeed. This approach distances the teachers--and physics--from the experience, knowledge, and initial interest of many beginning students. Another problem has been the absence of any alternative curriculum to the deductive one. In this paper, we describe a fully-developed alternative curriculum, really a detailed course design for Introductory College Physics I and II, each with its own text presented in the format of a three-ring binder, one for students and one for teachers which closely parallel one another. The course content is constructed to be both teacher and student friendly, so that a teacher can teach physics in an inductive, exciting, and clear manner. In addition, we describe and provide examples of the pedagogical and classroom management techniques that have proven extremely successful.     

Mechanical Properties and Degradability of Electrospun PCL/PLGA Blended Scaffolds as Vascular Grafts

In our study, the mechanical properties and degradability of vascular grafts made from poly(ε-caprolactone)(PCL) and poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)(PLGA) at different ratios were investigated. The results showed that the electrospun PCL/PLGA grafts possess good mechanical properties and biodegradability. The tensile and burst strength of the scaffolds met the demands of vascular grafts. In vitro degradation tests indicated that the degradation rate of the materials increased with the percentage of PLGA, and in vivo tests showed that increasing the amount of PLGA is an effective way to promote cell infiltration. Particularly, the electrospun PCL/PLGA blended scaffold with 10% PLGA exhibited a balance of mechanical and degradation properties, making it a promising tissue engineering material for vascular grafts.

Characteristics of acoustic emission temporal sequences during the failure of a concrete structure under loading

The characteristics of acoustic emission(AE)signals given off in the course of the failure of a concrete structure is explored based on the laboratory experiments with concrete specimens.It is observed that the failure of a concrete structure experiences three stages divided by two inflexion points on the AE event curve,which are sequentially no damage,damage initiation and propagation,and major failure stages.In the first stage,existing micro cracks and defects are compacted by loading. but no damage propagated,hence few AE signals are detected,and it appears that there exists a nearly linear relationship between the relative stress and relative strain.In the second stage,the AE event frequency increases implying that micro cracks begin to emerge inside the concrete structure,which is consistent with the damage mechanics.When the load is over 80% of that breaks the structure,i.e.the maximum load,there is a vertical jump on the AE event count curve,which suggests that the failure propagation speeds up.After the second inflexion point,the AE event density increases faster than before,and there is another jump just before breaking,which indicates a quick propagation stage.These findings are valuable for evaluating the damage situations,and for studying and monitoring the dynamic process of the failure behaviors of a concrete structure.     

Language policy provisions and curriculum issues： The challenges for secondary schools in Nigeria

Language, language policy and curriculum issues occupy very important and strategic places in educational planning in any society. In a multilingual Nigerian society as well as in similar countries like Australia, India or even in seemingly homogenous linguistic societies like Britain, language planning, development and policies are sin qua non. In this paper, the author has tried to look from the perspectives of the provisions of the National Policy on Education （1981） and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria （1979）, and examine the curriculum issues arising from the language and policy aspects in achieving the national educational aims, goals, objectives and development. This paper takes a cursory look at the constitutional and policy documents as well as the realities on ground in the secondary schools. It is discovered that, this sub-sector of education is characterized with language implementation crisis. The disturbing issue is that, since the language of instruction is bedeviled with crisis, the whole educational system itself becomes a failure. The paper recommends that, Nigeria should carry out a language policy reforms that will be acceptable and effective bearing in mind the role of language and language policy in education.     

Hybrid adaptive compensation control scheme for high-precision servo system

In this paper,a hybrid adaptive compensation control scheme is proposed to compensate the friction occurrence and other nonlinear disturbance factors that exist in the high-precision servo system.An adaptive compensation controller with a dual-observer structure is designed,while the LuGre dynamic friction model with non-uniform parametric uncertainties characterizes the friction torque.Considering the influence of the periodic disturbance torque and parametric uncertainties,fuzzy systems and a robust term are employed.In this way,the whole system can be treated as a simple linear model after being compensated,then the proportional-derivative (PD) control law is applied to enhancing the control performance.On the basis of Lyapunov stability theory,the global stability and the asymptotic convergence of the tracking error are proved.Numerical simulations demonstrate that the proposed scheme has potentials to restrain the impact of disturbance and improving the tracking performance.

Evaluation of Farmland Drainage Water Quality by Fuzzy–Gray Combination Method

The complex relationships between indicators and water conditions cause fuzzy and gray uncertainties in evaluation of water quality. Compared to conventional single-factor evaluation methods, the combination evaluation method can consider these two uncertainties to produce more objective and reasonable evaluation results. In this paper, we propose a combination evaluation method with two main parts:(1) the use of fuzzy comprehensive evaluation and gray correlation analysis as submodels with which to consider the fuzzy and gray uncertainties and(2) the establishment of a combination model based on minimum bias squares. In addition, using this method, we evaluate the water quality of a ditch in a typical rice–wheat system of Yixing city in the Taihu Lake Basin during three rainfall events. The results show that the ditch water quality is not good and we found the chemical oxygen demand to be the key indicator that affects water quality most significantly. The proposed combination evaluation method is more accurate and practical than single-factor evaluation methods in that it considers the uncertainties of fuzziness and grayness.     

Analytical model of vertical vibrations in piles for different tip boundary conditions: parametric study and applicationsx

In this paper,a model named fictitious soil pile was introduced to solve the boundary coupled problem at the pile tip.In the model,the soil column between pile tip and bedrock was treated as a fictitious pile,which has the same properties as the local soil.The tip of the fictitious soil pile was assumed to rest on a rigid rock and no tip movement was allowed.In combination with the plane strain theory,the analytical solutions of vertical vibration response of piles in a frequency domain and the corresponding semi-analytical solutions in a time domain were obtained using the Laplace transforms and inverse Fourier transforms.A parametric study of pile response at the pile tip and head showed that the thickness and layering of the stratum between pile tip and bedrock have a significant influence on the complex impedances.Finally,two applications of the analytical model were presented.One is to identify the defects of the pile shaft,in which the proposed model was proved to be accurate to identify the location as well as the length of pile defects.Another application of the model is to identify the sediment thickness under the pile tip.The results showed that the sediment can lead to the decrease of the pile stiffness and increase of the damping,especially when the pile is under a low frequency load.     

Outsourcing model city selection in China from the offshore outsourcer’s perspective based on the additive SE-DEA model

More and more enterprises are outsourcing activities that are neither cost efficient if done in-house nor central to their businesses. Most of the studies in outsourcing decision making focus on vendor selection. However, little research has been done about location selection, which is also a critical step in offshore service outsourcing. The purpose of this paper is to offer a new method to deal with the destination selection problem in China. We employed the additive SE-DEA model to overcome the drawbacks of traditional DEA and SE-DEA methods, and calculated the relative efficiency of 20 service outsourcing model cities （excluding Xiamen）. Based on two years of longitudinal study, we made a comparison of the 20 cities. Finally we classified the model cities by combining them with the service outsourcing ability dimension and also gave some selection suggestions and development suggestions for outsourcers＇ outsourcing service and the model cities, respectively.
