Teacher Evaluation and Teacher Effectiveness in the United Kingdom

An outline is given of the UK research situation for the knowledge bases of school effectiveness and teacher effectiveness, and the UK policy situation in terms of school and teacher evaluation, improvement and development. It is argued that the UK has seen a much greater use of school-level policies, reflecting its substantial school effectiveness research base, rather than teacher-level interventions, although there are currently some attempts at policy and practice level to focus upon teacher effects, teacher evaluation and related issues of professional development. Speculations are given concerning future policy and research needs.     

医学类高职院校“双师型”教师队伍建设探索与实践

结合当前医学类高职院校受制于医学实践教学资源短缺“、双师型”师资不足、不能满足医学技术人才培养要求等问题,以四川卫生康复职业学院实践经验为例,在“医教协同”基础上重点阐述运用“一校两附院”模式,开展“双师型”教师队伍建设,进而保障教学师资需要,全面提高教育教学质量,最终实现培养高质量医学技术人才的目的。     

Teacher Evaluation, Teacher Effectiveness and School Effectiveness: Perspectives from the USA

This article provides historical overviews of the conceptual and research and development focus of teacher evaluation, teacher effectiveness and school effectiveness research in the USA. Pertinent literature is cited and arguments are made that these lines of inquiry have coexisted for nearly four without adequate integration. With the fourth stage of school effectiveness research in process, there is a recognition that within school context variables, particularly teacher effectiveness, have important effects on school improvement and school outcomes. Similarly, there is the recognition that findings from school effectiveness research have relevance for studies of teacher effectiveness and ongoing developments in teacher evaluation. Examples of: (a) new generation, learner-centered teacher evaluation systems in the USA that are informed by teacher and school effectiveness research; and (b) the fourth stage of school effectiveness research are described. It is proposed that these lines of research should be merged as completely as possible.     

Brooklyn College Research in Teacher Effectiveness

Abstract

Relationships between grade-estimates and class-standing of college students and their ratings of selected instructor-characteristics were determined by chi square analyses of a standard questionnaire completed by 1,975 Ss enrolled in a state university. Students expecting high grades rated their instructors significantly higher than did those expecting low grades. Freshmen viewed grading policies more favorably than did upper-class Ss. Data indicate that instructors might seriously consider reducing the complexity of their classroom presentations for freshmen and, conversely, increasing the sophistication of their pedagogical skills for seniors.     

教育怎能"学生说了算"--从学生评教看师生关系的合理定位

学生评教的滥用,致使“学生说了算”竟成为时髦,师生关系遂变得复杂、畸形。可是教育的本质决定了师生关系的最基本方面只能是教师教,学生学。说学生是主体,那是说学生是学的主体,是自我教育、自我体验、自我管理、自我约束的主体,而不是说学生是教的主体。教学须调动学生的能动性,考虑学生的兴趣,都不意味着学生是教学过程的主体。学生的意见具有一定的参考价值,但是,教育不能由学生说了算。     

现代教育呼唤有个性的教师

Team Teaching

Several core competencies related to information literacy have been identified by the Association of College and Research Libraries. Students must learn to gather relevant information and communicate their findings effectively. The collaborative activity described here, which could easily be adapted for other disciplines, introduces first-semester freshmen to the standards of professional scientific writing, the different forms of publication, search strategies to effectively find information using a relevant database, and plagiarism. Analysis of our pre- and post-activity assessment demonstrates that students gain both confidence and knowledge on several important skills as a result of this activity. Providing content-relevant information literacy experience lays the foundation for students to be successful consumers of information.     

高等职业教育中的“双师型”教师队伍建设

＂双师型＂教师队伍是高等职业教育的重要特色。高等职业教育要培养出面向生产、建设、管理、服务第一线需要的,下得去、留得住、用的上、实践技能强、具有良好职业道德的技术应用型人才,必须以＂双师型＂教师队伍为支撑。文章通过对高校教育师资队伍现状以及存在的问题进行分析,提出建设＂双师型＂教师队伍的重要性,并提出具体完善措施,以达到加速建设＂双师型＂这支人员精干、素质优良、结构合理、专兼结合、相对稳定的教师队伍的目的,促进高等职业教育的健康发展。
