This article describes incorporation of the goals of personal growth, knowledge of group process, and application of process groups in professional settings into a course designed and taught by doctoral students under faculty supervision. Evaluation of the course was accomplished through measures of authoritarianism, self-perception and nature of interaction with others, and comparison with other graduate courses. It was concluded that the goals were appropriate and achievable. Evidence that students participating in the course tended to respond more freely and openly to each other, in addition to self-reports of personal and professional growth, justified the continuation of similar courses in the curriculum.  相似文献

The major factors contributing to racial strife on college campuses are discussed and different conceptualizations of appropriate race relations goals are reviewed. Institutions of higher education acknowledge that online learning represents a growing segment of the modern learning environment, and most students have mastered basic computer skills. However, reluctance to engage in online learning remains among both faculty and students. This article presents a case study of three schools of nursing that collaboratively developed and implemented an online undergraduate-nursing course. The article discusses the challenges that were encountered by faculty and students. The faculty used the distance education literature to address these challenges related to technological, institutional, and pedagogical aspects of online learning, as well as the recruitment and retention of online learners. Quantitative and qualitative methods were used to evaluate the effectiveness of the course. The paper concludes with suggestions to overcome the challenges of online learning, such that faculty and students receive the inherent rewards.  相似文献

在大学英语教学改革中,教学模式的改革一直是关注的重点。论文在总结2001~2014年大学英语教学模式研究的基础上,从设计原则、理论依据、模式内涵和实践成效四个方面阐述大学英语实验教学模式的设计与实践。结果显示,学习者总体上赞同该教学模式的实施,比较认可其在培养自身英语综合应用能力、自主学习能力和实践创新能力方面的作用。改革已经初见成效,具有一定的应用推广价值。  相似文献

This article offers a case study of the evaluation of a redesigned and redeveloped laboratory-based cell biology course. The course was a compulsory element of the biology program, but the laboratory had become outdated and was inadequately equipped. With the support of a faculty-based teaching improvement project, the teaching team redesigned the course and re-equipped the laboratory, using a more learner-centered, constructivist approach. The focus of the article is on the project-supported evaluation of the redesign rather than the redesign per se. The evaluation involved aspects well beyond standard course assessments, including the gathering of self-reported data from the students concerning both the laboratory component and the technical skills associated with the course. The comparison of pre- and postdata gave valuable information to the teaching team on course design issues and skill acquisition. It is argued that the evaluation process was an effective use of the scarce resources of the teaching improvement project.  相似文献
