Documentation science in the context of the post-non-classical development of modern science

The evolution of documentation science in the context of global issues related to the development of science is studied. It is indicated that modern documentation science is close to its transition to a new type of scientific rationality, which is called post-non-classical rationality. The specificity of post-non-classical rationality in a document research is analyzed. It is suggested that one apply a phenomenological approach for the elaboration of a general document theory.     

Information resources for social sciences and humanities: Support for research on innovative development in Russia

The information requirements for the scientific literature on innovation are analyzed. The results of a content study on innovation-related information in the databases on social sciences and humanities of the Institute of Scientific Information on Social Sciences (INION) of the Russian Academy of Sciences are presented. The problems of information searching for innovation-related issues based on the use of a set of linguistic tools are described.

Information as a basic element of the modern information society and its place in the system of philosophical knowledge

Problems are considered associated with the philosophical understanding of the information concept as applied to the realities of the modern information society. The evolution of the notion [idea] of information is presented and on its basis the main philosophical concept of the concept “information” is elucidated. Various, sometimes opposing, scientific viewpoints on the problems under study have been analyzed. The role of social information and the specifics of its relation with social processes are shown. The great significance of information systems and technologies for the development of modern society is demonstrated, which are at the same time the products of information processing and the means of its production. Journals on nanotechnologies in the system of scientific periodicals in Russia

This paper presents the analysis of domestic journals on nanotechnologies for 1998–2011. Data collection was performed using the Google.ru search system on the internet sites of the leading Russian libraries: the Russian State Library (RSL), State Public Scientific Technical Library of Russia (SPSTL), eLIBRARY.RU, OJSC Rospechat’ and Periodicals.com, as well as Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communication. The following parameters are analyzed: the title of a journal, the first year of publication, a publishing organization, subject sphere, and the periodicity of publication. The goal of the research is to determine the appearance, development, and modern state of the journal system on nanotechnologies as a new discipline in Russia.
