The Overseas University Leadership Program

This article analyzes the content and format of the Overseas University Leadership Program organized by the National Academy of Education Administration in Beijing, China. Universities provide the country with scientific and technological expertise, pave the path to individual advancement, and are major economic engines. China's new mission is to transform a country with sufficient manpower resources into one with abundant talent resources (Zhou 2008). After the massive expansion that began in 1999, the rapid increase in enrollments and fast growth of universities transformed Chinese higher education from "elite education" to "mass education." As a result with the expansion, problems such as quality, funding, inadequate support facilities, unqualified academic staff, and graduate employment are gradually emerging. Since the 1990s, China has launched several projects, notably Project 211 and Project 985, to develop a tertiary education system of international stature with a select number of leading research universities and research centers of excellence. According to various World University Rankings (SJTU, Times, and others), most world-class universities are in North America and Western Europe; relatively fewer are in Japan, Australia, Hong Kong/China, New Zealand, and Singapore. Mainland China faces many challenges in building such world-class universities.     

留洋学者与南雍学术

近代留学生与云南大学

云南大学创建于1922年,初名私立东陆大学。大学从筹备到成立,仅5个多月的时间,其干劲之足,速度之快,都是罕见的,以董泽为首的愿意振兴祖国、服务家乡的留学生们为云南高等教育的萌兴作出了巨大的贡献;东陆大学创办后,近代时期的四位校长董泽、华秀升、何瑶、熊庆来均为留美、留欧学生,他们积极借鉴和推行欧美国家的现代高等教育模式,使近代云南大学在经历私立东陆大学、省立东陆大学、省立云南大学、国立云南大学四个发展阶段的过程中一步步从边疆走向中国,又从中国走向了世界。在这个过程中,首任校长董泽和第四任校长熊庆来在云大的发展史上写下了最为辉煌的篇章。1946年,云南大学被英国《简明大不列颠百科全书》收录,成为中国著名的十五所大学之一。     

归国留学人员文化再适应问题研究——从《非你莫属》刘俐俐的求职遭遇说起

随着我国经济的快速发展和对外开放的深人,大批人员到国外留学。而近几年来,留学生选择回国发展的人数不断增加,规模不断扩大。然而,出国人员回国后,却经历着生活和文化上的不适应,即受到逆向文化冲击。这一现象普遍存在,但国内对其研究却不多见。本文通过《非你莫属》中刘俐俐求职遭遇这个案例,分析逆向文化冲击的危害及其成因,并提出归国留学生的文化再适应对策,以期能够解决这一问题。     

关于华侨高校扩大境外生源的思考

从院校研究的角度,认为在全球化背景下,高等教育的国际化趋势为华侨高等教育的发展提供了新的发展空间。论述了以华侨大学、暨南大学为主体的大陆华侨高等教育所具有的高等教育国际化的特征以及初步形成的境外生招生体系,认为应该积极参与国际高等教育竞争,努力扩大海外生源,为华文教育事业的发展做出应有的贡献。     

学缘和海归教师学术职业发展--一项基于上海高校的混合研究

学缘对教师学术职业发展有重要影响,而海归教师因同时拥有国内和海外二元学术关系网络而在学缘上表现出特殊性。本研究采用混合研究方法,在量化部分以上海21所高校的359位海归教师为样本,在质性部分对来自上海6所高校的10名海归教师开展一对一半结构访谈,共同探究学缘对海归教师学术职业发展的影响。研究发现:高校海归教师对自身学术职业发展现状的评价不高;学缘影响海归教师学术职业平台选择以及职业"入场券"的获得。"校缘"对海归教师学术职业发展影响不显著,但与海外导师联系的频率对海归教师学术职业发展有显著正向影响。研究最后从高校、学院和个体层面对促进高校海归教师学术职业发展提出政策建议。     

Study and Stress among First Year Overseas Students in an Australian University

Overseas students bring to Australia a very different cultural, social and intellectual experience from that which awaits them. Reviews of previous studies suggest that their beliefs, values and attitudes to knowledge, to styles of learning and study can lead to study shock. A questionnaire survey of a sample of 133 first year overseas students mainly from Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong, most of whom were studying for a Bachelor of Business degree, and 76 Australian born first year students mainly of British and European origin from the same classes, showed that compared to local students the overseas group had significantly greater difficulties adjusting to academic requirements, particularly with regard to managing the demands of study, specifically study methods, independent learning, language skills, participation and time management. The overseas students manifested significantly higher degrees of various stress indicators than did the local students. More academic and counselling support and resources for this increasing intake of overseas students should be provided.

我国归侨安置法制的反思与完善

归侨侨眷能否融入国内主流社会是检验安置政策的根本标准,由是观之,我国此前的归侨安置政策不尽成功。现行归侨安置法律存在安置内容不明确、社会保障范围窄、忽视融和的核心地位等问题。完善归侨安置法制需要贯彻“促进融合”方针,采取提供融合课程、澄清法律歧义规定等举措。     

近代甘肃留学生创办的报刊略论

近代甘肃在全球化的强大冲击下，如同整个中国一样，被迫打开了封闭状态。一批甘肃学子开始跨出省界，外出求学。在新的参照体系下，他们备感甘肃社会文化、经济的落后。为了改变家乡的落后状况，他们在省内外创办了一大批报刊，积极地向甘肃传播近代西方文化思想、经济理论与科技知识，为近代甘肃植入现代性的因素，做出了积极的贡献。

侨校各类学生心理健康状况调查研究

文章旨在了解侨校学生心理是否健康的问题,采用SCL-90量表,作为测试工具对四个年级学生进行测量,包括饮食与睡眠、躯体、人际关系敏感、抑郁、焦虑、敌对、偏执、强迫、恐怖、精神病等10个方面,还有针对性地对大学生最受影响的10个方面进行调查。     

论新形势下坚持和完善党委领导下的校长负责制

党委领导下的校长负责制，是我国国办高等学校法定的领导体制。这一领导体制，是在总结我国建国以来几十年正反两方面经验教训的基础上，根据我国国情确立的。本文主要从我国高校的办学性质、高校领导体制演进过程中的经验教训等方面，论述了加强党对高校的统一领导，实行党委领导下的校长负责制的必要性和必然性；并对新形势下如何坚持和完善党委领导下的校长负责制试作探讨。     

大学图书馆留学生信息服务工作探索

探讨了全球性“HSK热”环境下,大学图书馆面向留学生这一特殊读者群所提供的信息服务存在的一般问题和特殊问题。针对这些问题又提出了改进的四大措施,以进一步提高大学图书馆的服务水平。

20世纪中国赴海外的留学生回国后，在各自的领域做出了突出贡献。他们积极传播科学，组织科学社团；传播新思潮，开启新风气；发展科学，创立学说；兴办产业，服务社会；走向世界，开展科技、教育、文化交流，对中国的科学技术发展发挥了巨大的作用。     

Approaches to Studying of Australian and Overseas Chinese University Students

This article takes up the question of whether the approaches to study adopted by Australian students and overseas Chinese students differ. Participants in the study consisted of 202 first‐year Australian students and 248 first‐year overseas Chinese students drawn from two Australian universities. The students were tested using the Approaches to Studying Inventory (ASI). The data obtained from the two groups were subjected to factor analysis (with orthogonal rotation). For Australian students, a four‐factor structure in studying approaches, which accounted for 55.6% of the total variance, was obtained. The factors were: Meaning Orientation; Non‐Academic Orientation; Anxious‐Rigid Orientation; and Goal Orientation. For the overseas Chinese students, a four‐factor structure in studying approaches which accounted for 52.8% of the total variance was obtained. The factors were: Anxious‐Surface Orientation; Self‐Motivated Reflective Orientation; Efficiency Orientation; and Comprehension Orientation. Although Cattell's (British Journal of Psychology, II, 1949, pp. 134–138) salient similarity sindex indicated some resemblance between the factors obtained for Australian and overseas Chinese students, confirmatory factor analyses failed to confirm a common factor structure in approaches to studying for both groups. It is concluded that the studying approaches of first‐year Australian and overseas Chinese university students are summarized by somewhat different factor structures. Several implications of the research findings are discussed.
