The word “hello”is probably usedmore often than any other one in the Eng-lish language. Everybody in the UnitedStates-and elsewhere-uses the word,again and again,every day of the week. The first thing you hear when youpick up the phone is “hello”unlessthe caller is an Englishman,who mightsay,“Are you there?”
