This study explores the perceptions held by nine mentor teachers from four Australian secondary schools about the impact they have on pre-service teachers during professional placement. Using Fraser’s (2000, 2005, 2008) social justice framework as a theoretical lens, this paper examines what can be learnt from these teacher mentors about mentoring in disadvantaged school contexts. These mentor teachers felt their most significant impact was in shaping pre-service teachers’ awareness and responsiveness to contextual factors so that they could not only fulfil professional experience requirements, but also be better prepared for potential future teaching opportunities in disadvantaged school contexts. 相似文献

美国特许学校运动经过20年轰轰烈烈发展,终于得到了社会各界逐渐的认可和支持。美国特许学校与我国公办转制学校有着天然的可比性,但实践中却折射出截然不同的社会感知和教育效应,通过两者之间的对比研究,大胆借鉴特许学校成功办学检验,结合中国具体国情和教育发展需要,文章最后提出四点具体建议和设想:加快政策跟进,转变政府职能和构建教育中介体系,建立通用的办学绩效责任体制,处理好转制学校的收费问题。 相似文献

Abstract This paper employs a stochastic production frontier model to assess the efficiency of the senior secondary schools in the Gambia. It examines their efficiency in using and mixing the educational inputs of average teacher salary, average teacher education, average teacher experience and students to teacher ratio in producing the number of students scoring credit and above in English and Mathematics. The schools are categorized into three types: the Government schools, the subsidized schools and the private schools. The paper finds no evidence that the private schools are different from the subsidized schools, but there is robust evidence that the private schools are significantly different from the Government schools. The average teacher salary is found to be irrelevant to the student performance, whereas high average teacher experience significantly improves student performance, and high student-to-teacher ratio significantly negates the student performance. Private schools appear to be the most efficient in 2006, but from 2007 to 2008, the performance of the schools in general is found to be highly volatile and unpredictable. Only one school emerges to consistently maintain a superior efficient performance throughout the three years studied. 相似文献

欧盟教育计划是欧盟在全盟层面上推进教育一体化发展的基本组织实施模式。随着欧盟政治、经济和文化一体化发展的不断深化,欧盟在普通教育和职业教育方面创设和推行的教育计划也经历了日趋成熟的三个发展阶段。欧盟委员会、欧盟理事会等机构共同确定教育计划的发展方向和标准,各成员国设立国家计划代理署具体组织协调欧盟教育计划在本国的实施。欧盟机构与成员国组织遵从辅助性原则,分工明确,各司其职,共同有力地保障教育计划的落实。 相似文献

农村学校布局调整从20世纪80年代开始,尤其是进入20世纪以后调整力度逐渐加大。但由于在撤并过程中出现了一些比较突出的问题,所以国家在2012年又进一步规范了农村义务教育学校布局调整工作。通过对周口市M县农村学校布局调整现状的调查发现:学校总数和学生人数呈现减少趋势;县城与乡镇的学校数量和学生人数分别呈现增加与减少趋势;公办与民办的学校数量和学生人数分别呈现减少与增加趋势。研究认为,农村初中布局调整已基本结束并且比较合适,农村小学仍然存在学校数量较多、学生人数较少、教学质量不高、教师压力较大等问题。为更加有效地规范和推进农村小学布局调整工作,需要把握以下几方面:态度要积极,步子要稳妥;加强农村寄宿制学校规范化建设,努力改善办学条件;整合教师队伍,合理调配教师资源。 相似文献

我国基础教育重点校政策是社会经济非均衡发展战略在教育中的体现。重点校政策在推动部分学校教育质量提高的同时,也扩大了城乡间、学校间在资源配置和教育质量上的差距,导致了教育公平的缺失,使得基础教育群体间入学机会不公平,尤其接受优质教育不公平。应从制度入手,推进教育管理制度、教育人事制度、教育财政制度的改革,缩小基础教育校际差别,逐步取消重点校政策,使公众享受到较为公平的教育。 相似文献

University science outreach programmes are used to encourage more school students to select science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) subjects in further education and pursue science-related careers. The benefits of science outreach programmes are often espoused from the perspective of programme participants. Little attention, however, is given to what university students delivering the programmes gain from the experience. This paper seeks to illustrate the benefits of engineering students delivering STEM outreach programmes in schools. It reports on a qualitative case study of the experiences of two STEM Education and Outreach team members from a regional university in Australia. Content analysis of interview data highlighted not only the participants’ motivations and perceived benefits of being involved in the STEM programme but also revealed the skills and attributes honed throughout the experience. Involvement in the STEM outreach programme resulted in the development of social and personal responsibility generic graduate attribute skills, evidenced through their motivations to be involved, the demonstration of understanding of teaching and learning, and application of science communication skills. This study demonstrates that designing and delivering STEM outreach programmes assists in the development of skills that will be beneficial when pursuing careers in engineering in the future. 相似文献

Because learning and instruction are increasingly competence-based, the call for assessment methods to adequately determine competence is growing. Using just one single assessment method is not sufficient to determine competence acquisition. This article argues for Competence Assessment Programmes (CAPs), consisting of a combination of different assessment methods, including both traditional and new forms of assessment. To develop and evaluate CAPs, criteria to determine their quality are needed. Just as CAPs are combinations of traditional and new forms of assessment, criteria used to evaluate CAP quality should be derived from both psychometrics and edumetrics. A framework of 10 quality criteria for CAPs is presented, which is then compared to Messick's framework of construct validity. Results show that the 10-criterion framework partly overlaps with Messick's, but adds some important new criteria, which get a more prominent place in quality control issues in competence-based education. 相似文献

Abstract Globally, most children with disabilities are neglected by society. Research shows that the majority of the world's 450 million people with disabilities are found in developing countries (Sullivan and Knutson, 1998 and 2000). This study seeks to: (a) identify available programmes of education and policies that are aimed at helping children with disabilities in schools; (b) determine the nature of services that are available to disabled children in schools; and (c) determine some strategies that the government and society can use to help children with disabilities in Botswana schools. A qualitative, explorative and contextual research design was used for this research. Data were collected using a document analysis from the Revised National Policy of 1994, in which the Special Education Policy is set out; the Botswana Population Census of 1991; and the Botswana Centre for the Disabled News Letter of 1999. Researchers collected data from these documents by making detailed notes. The study found that there are too few schools, and inadequate facilities, for children with disabilities in Botswana. 相似文献
