Fuel Burning Rate Model for Stratified Charge Engine

A zero-dimensional single-zone double-curve model is presented to predict fuel burning rate in stratified charge engines, and it is integrated with GT-Power to predict the overall performance of the stratified charge engines. The model consists of two exponential functions for calculating the fuel burning rate in different charge zones. The model factors are determined by a non-linear curve fitting technique, based on the experimental data obtained from 30 cases in middle and low loads. The results show good agreement between the measured and calculated cylinder pressures, and the deviation between calculated and measured cylinder pressures is less than 5%. The zero-dimensional single-zone double-curve model is successful in the combustion modeling for stratified charge engines.     

An iterative computation method for interpreting and extending an analytical battery model

Battery models are of great importance to develop portable computing systems, for whether the design of low power hardware architecture or the design of battery-aware scheduling policies. In this paper, we present a physically justified iterative computing method to illustrate the discharge, recovery and charge process of Li/Li-ion batteries. The discharge and recovery processes correspond well to an existing accurate analytical battery model： R-V-W＇s analytical model, and thus interpret this model algorithmically. Our method can also extend R-V-W＇s model easily to accommodate the charge process, The work will help the system designers to grasp the characteristics of R-V-W＇s battery model and also, enable to predict the battery behavior in the charge process in a uniform way as the discharge process and the recovery process. Experiments are performed to show the accuracy of the extended model by comparing the predicted charge times with those derived from the DUALFOIL simulations. Various profiles with different combinations of battery modes were tested, The experimental results show that the extended battery model preserves high accuracy in predicting the charge behavior.

In-pixel charge addition scheme applied in time-delay integration CMOS image sensors

An addition scheme applicable to time-delay integration (TDI) CMOS image sensor is proposed,which adds signals in the charge domain in the pixel array.A two-shared pixel structure adopting two-stage charge transfer is introduced,together with the rolling shutter with an undersampling readout timing.Compared with the conventional TDI addition methods,the proposed scheme can reduce the addition operations by half in the pixel array,which decreases the power consumption of addition circuits outside the pixel array.The timing arrangement and pixel structure are analyzed in detail.The simulation results show that the proposed pixel structure can achieve the charge addition with negligible nonlinearity,therefore the power consumption of the periphery addition circuits can be reduced by half theoretically.
