Abstract

Although teaching is a primary function of social work educators, most instructors receive little training in teaching methods and, once engaged in teaching, have few opportunities to hone their craft and engage in dialogue about their classroom experiences. Teaching Circles are an example of ongoing curricula designed to improve classroom performance, foster support for excellent teaching and, ultimately, improve student satisfaction. This paper describes the rationale, structure, content, incentives, evaluation, and merit of Teaching Circles.

一、尝试教学法的过程1 复习铺垫 ,巩固旧知。在学习新知前 ,复习一下与本节课相联的旧知 ,教师点拨与本节课内容相联的重点地方 ,帮助学生在头脑中回忆起旧知。2 看书读书 ,领会新知。教师在进行新课时 ,往往都是先将例题板书之后 ,紧接着就讲授新知。这样做 ,把学生的主动性和潜在能力压抑了。我在这个环节中 ,是先让学生自己看书 ,领会新知。学生一边读 ,一边思索 ,比较、分析、领会例题是如何分析题目 ,如何得到算式 ,如何计算 ,计算中运用了些什么法则、方法、技巧等。这样做能够培养学生的观察、比较、分析、思维、模仿、计算能力。3…     

Teaching Teachers About Energy: Lessons from an Inquiry-Based Workshop for K-8 Teachers

We report results and impressions from a three-day inquiry-based workshop for K-8 teachers, aimed at improving their understanding of energy from a science and engineering perspective. Results suggest that the teachers made significant gains in understanding and appreciation of important energy concepts, but their comprehension of some key ideas remained incomplete. The dissipation of energy into thermal energy of the environment proved to be a particularly difficult idea, and one that represents a serious obstacle to understanding the principle of the conservation of energy.

“说课”是教改土壤中新冒出的一棵新苗，她的出现对促进教师的教、学生的学及提高教学质量都大有益处。     

Talking About Teaching Episodes

This paper examines two types of discourse in which teachers engage when discussing case studies based on classroom episodes, and the ways in which the availability of video data of these episodes may motivate a shift in the mode of discourse used. We interviewed two pairs of secondary school mathematics teachers after they had read a case study based on a 16-minute mathematics classroom episode taped in a secondary school in the United States. During each interview, a multimedia version of the case study, including video of the original episode, was available to the participants. We identify two modes of discourse engaged in by the teachers during the interviews: Grounded Narrative and Evaluative Discourse. We examine and identify the characteristics of the two discourse forms, drawn from both video and textual analysis. These characteristics are self-reflective talk, perspective, ethics, and linguistic patterns. The identification of two modes of discourse is relevant for researchers and teacher educators using case studies or video recordings. In addition, the findings provide insight into how teachers are “seeing” classroom events in a video case study.
