高校德育研究的后现代语境

从后现代教育理念角度反思我国高校德育,笔者认为:高校道德教育目标应追求普适性规范,重视多元价值并存;高校德育课程内容应摆脱封闭模式,构筑理论课程、经验课程与生活课程的共同体;高校德育策略应提倡对话体验;高校师生关系只有“去中心”、“去圣化”,才能真正实现师生平等、民主交流,从而建立完整、开放、自由、高效的高校德育新体系。

社区教育课程建设探讨——基于社区大学视角

社区教育课程建设是当前社区大学以社区教育为己任面临的迫切任务。社区教育的功能特性决定了社区教育课程具有整合性、文化性、现实性、地域性、技能性等基本特性。根据当前我国社区大学社区教育课程开发存在的不足,社区教育课程建设应该加强需求调研,提高课程的适切度,建立科学的课程开发机制和制定社区教育课程标准,在推动特色课程开发,提高职业技能课程开发比重以及加快社区大学网络课程教育平台等方面满足市民终身学习需要。

A Longitudinal View of the Liberal Arts Curriculum a Decade After Merger: A Multiple Case Study of Community Colleges in Connecticut,Kentucky, and Louisiana

This study is an examination of the state of the liberal arts curriculum in community colleges in three geographic regions of the United States. From a constructivist paradigm and using globalization theory as a theoretical framework, this multiple case study examined faculty work life and administrative processes related to curriculum change in merged community and technical colleges. Through an examination of research on globalization, mergers, and trends in the general education and liberal arts curriculum, a gap in the literature emerged in the studies of community college curriculums after merger. This study considers whether the focus on workforce development and decrease in the transfer mission has diminished the liberal arts courses in the college curriculum. Research on liberal arts courses identified them as courses that emphasize higher order thinking and the development of intellectual skills needed to engage in a democratic society. If students are not exposed to these skills, it may have a detrimental effect on a democratic society. Study findings suggested that the English and communication curriculums are narrowing and the mission is more toward workforce skill preparation. Also, the changing demographics of today[#x02019]s community college students, as well as the ongoing budget constraints, create challenges and frustrations for faculty members.     

社区志愿服务中的大学生思想政治教育新模式探索

目前很多大学生积极投身社区文化建设,社区志愿服务已逐步成为加强和改进高校思想政治教育工作、实施素质教育的重要载体。该文结合实践案例,致力于探索出一种金字塔型的思想政治教育模式,构建起"高校理论教育+社区公益服务"优势互补的综合素质教育模式,最大程度上为高校志愿者和社区居民提供沟通的渠道,以期达到精准服务的效果。     

Leadership without imposition

Community colleges require speech communication teachers with special competencies—competencies dictated by the educational goals, the student characteristics, and the community orientation of junior colleges. These teacher competencies should be taught through special master's degree programs and in‐service training provided by teacher education institutions and professional speech communication associations. Based on her experience as a teacher at community colleges in Texas and Illinois and as a director of teacher training in speech, the author suggests that community colleges are basically different than four‐year institutions, and need teachers with different skills.

美国社区学院的课程设置具有明显的社会适切性,呈现出区域联动性、综合职业性和市场开放性的特点。以实用制胜,社区学院课程设置的适切性及其实现的有效途径,可为我国教学型地方院校的专业建设提供借鉴,促进高等教育与区域经济发展长效互惠的联动机制。     

Improving curriculum development practices in a technical vocational community college: examining effects of a professional development arrangement for middle managers

Learning about curriculum development is critical for middle managers of technical vocational institutions in order to assume curriculum leadership in maintaining and enhancing the quality and relevance of their educational programs. This case study reports on the design and effects of a professional development arrangement (PDA), with such a focus, for 13 middle managers of a technical vocational community college in a developing country. The findings indicate that the middle managers appreciated the relevance of the PDA for curriculum development at the community college and gained substantial learning about systematic curriculum development. However, the middle managers' post-PDA curriculum development improvement efforts were minimal and characterised by individual initiatives, due to a lack of senior management support, unfavourable work conditions, and a high rate of middle manager attrition. The conclusion drawn is that for trained middle managers to lead systematic curriculum development practices, contextual and organisational barriers germane to technical vocational education in developing contexts need to be considered.     

The Effects of a Preengineering Project-based Learning Curriculum on Self-efficacy Among Community College Students

Using statewide survey study data collected from more than 5,000 community college students, this study examined the impact of a preengineering curriculum on students' self-efficacy level after they entered rural community colleges. Project Lead The Way (PLTW), is a project-based learning curriculum for middle and high school students that strives to create a path to college and career success in STEM-related fields. In this article, the authors focused on comparing the probability of rating high self-efficacy among 86 community college students who participated in PLTW with students with no PLTW experience. The findings indicated that PLTW students have significantly lower probability of rating high self-efficacy compared to their non-PLTW counterparts. It might be that PLTW students rated their self-efficacy by comparing with a group of their close peers, who might be a group of academically high-ability students. This study provides implications for the unique, perhaps unintentional, peer effects of the project-based learning curriculum on the self-rating of students' self-efficacy. The findings highlighted the secondary-postsecondary nexus on STEM education, especially the importance of secondary programs that could positively influence the STEM educational pathways for community college students.     

THE CHANGE FROM TRANSFER TO CAREER EDUCATION AT COMMUNITY COLLEGES IN THE 1970s

For most of the twentieth century, up until the 1970s, the transfer curriculum, which prepared two‐year students for continuing their education at a four‐year school, was dominant in the community college; the ratio of enrollment in transfer programs to enrollment in occupational or career programs varied only between 2:1 and 3:1. In the 1970s, a dramatic shift occurred. Students began abandoning the transfer curriculum for the career curriculum in record numbers, and fewer decided to transfer to four‐year schools. This phenomenon has been widely quoted as fact, yet little has been done to document it, with actual figures from individual states. This paper first presents difficulties posed by this area for the researcher. Second, it examines the rise of career education and the decline of transfer education on a state‐by‐state basis. Finally, it concludes with a call for future researchers to study the repercussions of this change on the community college as a whole.     

借鉴美国社区学院经验发展我国高等职业教育

美国社区学院是职业教育的重要机构,是培养和培训美国普通劳动力的主要基地。美国社区学院课程目标多样化,以职业教育为导向,课程内容注重针对性和实践性,并且费用较低,为我国发展高等职业教育提供了可供参考的办学经验。     

对于培养大学生跨文化交际能力问题的新思考

大学生跨文化交际能力的培养是大学英语课程改革的重要目标,是素质教育的必然要求。为研究现阶段大学生跨文化交际能力的现状。笔者在浙江中医药大学非英语专业的学生中进行了问卷调查。问卷调壶结果表明．现阶段大学生的跨文化交际能力与学生在今后的工作环境中,与各国人之间的跨文化交际的实际需要存在昔巨大的矛盾。为了解决该矛盾,笔者提出了采用国际目标语文化教学培养大学生跨文化交际能力。     

通识教育视角下的大学英语课程设计

在经济全球化飞速发展和我国改革开放不断深入的时代背景下,大学英语的培养目标不再仅仅是提高学生的语言能力,社会所迫切需要的是大批既精通外语,又具有广博的知识和较强的跨文化交际能力的人才.基于通识教育的培养目标,进行大学英语教学改革顺应了时代发展的需求.大学英语课程设计改革是大学英语教学改革的重要组成部分,鉴于现有大学英语课程设计存在着一定的缺陷,从通识教育的视角出发,结合一定的理论依据与实践经验,探究新的课程设计模式,将有助于学生在学习语言的同时,提高自身的通识素养.     

1990年以来美国社区学院成人教育机制的发展

社区学院作为美国独创的综合性大众化教育机构逐渐发展为社区成人教育的核心机构。成人教育是传统学校教育向终身教育发展的一种新型教育制度,对不断提高全民素质、促进经济和社会发展有重要作用。鉴于此,本论文在描述1990年代以来美国社区学院成人教育机制发展背景、历程的基础上,对美国社区学院成人教育教育形式、专业及课程设置、教学手段以及教师任用制度进行了较为详细的介绍,以期对促进我国成人教育发展提出一些有益的启示。     

CURRICULUM APPROVAL IN ILLINOIS COMMUNITY COLLEGES: LOCAL AND STATE PROCESSES

Following a discussion of the historical relationship between education and democracy, from which the concept of curriculum emerges as a legitimate field of research, this paper traces the development of curricular diversity in U.S. two‐year institutions and reviews the control and coordinating functions of curriculum governance in the community college systems of several states. The paper focuses on the system of curricular administration in Illinois, in which primary responsibility rests with the local two‐year school board and a coordinating function with a state agency, the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB). The state process is summarized and the local process of course and program approval from initiation to implementation in Illinois community colleges is identified. The data suggest that while the state role in curricular governance is formally defined as one of coordination, the local community college curriculum administrators may in fact view it as one of control.     

言语社区理论视角下的大学生网络社区

言语社区的发现和鉴定标准有五要素说、四要素说、三要素说等。本文运用言语社区理论的五要素说,对大学生网络社区进行了考察,试图证明大学生网络社区是一个言语社区,并对言语社区的鉴定标准提出了自己的思考。     

The Role of the Community College in Providing Language,Speech, and Hearing Services

Abstract

A survey of community college personnel in Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey was conducted to determine (1) the extent and type of services in speech, hearing, or language screening, remediation, and improvement, (2) the extent and type of instruction in speech and language improvement, and (3) the extent and type of bilingual services in speech, hearing or language presently offered to students and community members within the community college setting. In addition, the existence of plans to offer these services in the future was ascertained. Responses indicated the existence of some services but a general unavailability of comprehensive screening, evaluation, and rehabilitation programs despite the widespread needs of the growing community college constituency. The results of the survey can assist community college personnel in needs assessment and planning within their own institutions by offering a context for consideration of the priority for providing language, speech, and hearing services within the community college setting.
