“基于网络计量的世界大学排行榜”述评

自从1983年《美国新闻与世界报道》推出美国大学排行榜后，大学排行日渐成为一个热门且富有争议的问题。尽管学者、媒体和大众对排名的标准争执不休，但不同机构推出的大学排行榜却依然吸引人们的眼球。对全球的大学按照一定的标准进行排序是一项具有挑战性的工作，到目前为止，在全球有影响力的世界大学排行榜主要有上海交通大学高等教育研究所的“世界大学学术排行榜”（Academic Ranking of World Universities）、英国泰晤士报高教副刊推出的“世界大学排行榜”（World University Rankings）以及西班牙网络计量研究小组（Cybermetrics Research Group）推出的“基于网络计量的世界大学排行榜”（Webometrics Ranking of Wodd Universities）。     

国际大学排行榜的演变逻辑及评价变革

国际大学排行榜自诞生以来,在多重逻辑交织与作用下,从外部评价服务逐步转变为高等教育治理工具,并越发与高等学校价值发展形成冲突。本文从学术逻辑、市场逻辑、管理逻辑和政策逻辑角度建构,提出国际大学排行榜的演变逻辑。以此逻辑框架分析多元主体影响国际大学排行榜演变并形成四个发展阶段的历程。进一步分析当前国际大学排行榜的负面影响及演变逻辑困惑,焦点在于多重逻辑对主导权的争夺与确立。最后,基于大学评价的教育立场,给出识用国际大学排行榜结果的变革建议,即理性认识排行榜的弊端,破除唯“排行”导向,突出政策逻辑统领,推动建立更符合国家教育导向、更反映学科价值贡献、更具有国际认可度的大学评价体系和品牌。     

大学排名的发展和两大世界大学排行榜指标比较

随着高等教育的成熟和发展,大学排行榜由美国首先产生,并席卷到世界各国。美国、英国、中国等国通过国际间合作或自己的研究都先后开展了大学排名的工作,本文追述世界大学排行榜发展的历史,比较目前最著名的《泰晤士报·高等教育副刊》的THE排行榜和国际高等教育资讯机构Quacquarelli Symonds公司的排行榜的两大世界大学排名指标体系,为我校进行大学排行榜的研究提供参考。     

四个大学排行榜评价指标体系刍议

国际流行的四个大学排行榜的共性是:其评价指标涵括人才培养,师资队伍和办学资源,遵循高等教育的发展规律,抓住大学办学的基本特征,呈现大学排行榜对大学质量评价的合理性.四个大学排行榜在主导性指标及指标权重上具有差异,其根本原因是价值取向的不同.通过分析四个大学排行榜的共性与个性,得出结论:中国大学要强化对人才培养、师资队伍和办学资源的关注,持续促进大学的社会声誉和学科声誉的提升,重视大学评价的均值可比性及其过程导向.     

我国高校主要评价体系的简要比较和分析

随着我国对创建世界一流大学的重视,大学的评价体系也受到越来越多的关注。国内高校和科研院所先后推出了不同版本的大学排行榜,如上海交通大学刘念才教授等主持的《世界大学学术排行》(ARWU),主要对世界各地的大学根据学术表现进行评价和排名;广东管理科学研究院武书连主持的《中国大学评价》,主要对国内研究型大学根据综合表现进行评价;武汉大学中国科学评价研究中心的世界大学科研竞争力评价,针对世界研究型大学的科研能力和表现分别进行综合评价和分学科排名;浙江大学徐小洲教授负责的国际大学创新力评价研究,主要针对从世界各地选取的知名大学的创新能力进行客观评价和排名。国内这四种由高校或科研院所主导的大学排名,由于各自评价体系的侧重点存在较大差异,其结果往往大相径庭。     

基于大学排行榜的高校评价体系的思考

随着世界各国大学评价机构的兴起,大学排行榜在全球范围内逐渐成为评价高校声誉的重要依据。本文分析了基于当前大学排行榜的高校评价体系存在的问题,以期完善我国高校评价体系。     

缤纷排行

饱受非议的大学排行榜,可以"权威",却难以"科学"大学排行榜,是目前世界各国广泛存在的针对各类高等教育院校的排名。大学排行榜的考查范围可以是全球、全国,或者某一区域,如何保证大学排行榜的客观已成为世界各地大学排行榜面临的重要议题之一。大学排行榜对于扩大各国各地院校知名度,提升文化教育水平仍具有重要意义。在国外,大学排行榜最早可以追溯到1983年,当时《美国新闻与世界报道》在美国第一次推出了全美大学排行榜。目前各国排行榜却都产生了一个被公众普遍认可、相对权威的评价机构。     

世界大学科研竞争力排行榜是如何产生的?

美国出版的《基本科学指标》(ESI)已成为国际性的高水平的权威评价工具。利用ESI作为原始数据来源,对世界大学和科研院所的科研竞争力进行科学的评价,得到《世界大学科研竞争力排行榜》和《世界科研机构学科竞争力排行榜》。评价结果显示,中国大学距离世界一流大学的差距很大,建设世界一流大学的任务非常艰巨。     

基于大学排名的世界一流学科评价问题研究

学科是大学的根基和细胞,是否拥有世界一流学科很大程度影响到一所大学能否成为世界一流。通过研究泰晤士高等教育、上海交通大学世界一流大学研究中心、美国新闻和世界报道、德国高等教育研究中心等机构发布的大学排行榜,观察其学科评价的异同,就如何客观、科学地评价世界一流学科进行学理探讨,进而针对其中存在的问题,如学科宽度和广度、学科国际地位、研究原创性、学科平衡等作些思考。     

《泰晤士报高等教育》大学排行评价方法的改变

《泰晤士报高等教育》（Times Higher Education,以下简称THE）世界大学排行榜是最有权威性的全球大学排行榜之一。据统计,2009年度世界大学排行榜发布后一天之内THE网站接受了大约一百万点击量,并在世界各地媒体上成为头条,“政府受其影响,学校为其争吵,副校长甚至为其丢掉工作,无疑THE大学排名在全球拥有巨大的影响力”。
