释“中严”,兼谈“中庶子”、“中舍人”、“中记室”

"中严"、"外办"《汉语大词典》等辞书所释不确,其本系古代皇家礼仪用语,盖某些场合需为天子等皇室要员专设一空间,以此区分内、外。"中严"之"中"就词义而论当指"禁中",其适用范围就"中严"、"外办"礼的施用对象来看,当不限于皇帝周围,还包括太子、皇后、皇太后之近身区域。这方面一个证据是"中庶子"、"中舍人"、"中记室"等官称,作为东宫或王府、军府官,其权重、秩次居于"庶子"、"舍人"、"记室"之上,据此可断定"中"在此当指太子、僭主的某个贴身领域。     

清华简《保训》“假中于河”新论

《保训》"假中"之"假"习见于传世文献,是"祭者致神"之义,"假中于河"即通过祭祀"河"得到"中"。"假中于河"之"河"是河神之谓,与传世文献中的"冥"关系密切。上甲微通过祭祀河神来凝聚人心、积蓄力量,并赋予攻打有易的正义性,"假中于河"即通过精诚的祭祀来获得神灵公正的裁决。因此,"中"就是具有公正、正义、公道含义的思想观念,"得中"就是公平、公正地裁决事理。这一点可以结合"中"的功能从汤、舜、尧以及周文王的事迹中得到证明。
