天堂与天府:当代吴、蜀文化之比较——以苏州、成都文化建设为例

人称上有天堂,下有苏杭;蜀为天府之国.同为天堂与天府,成都与苏州应当有较强的可比性.这种可比性既表现在两者之间的得天独厚、人才辈出、体闲文化和形态丰富的文化种类;也表现在两者主体文化形态和文化特性的差异.本文从区域文化比较研究的角度,结合苏州、成都的经济发展和文化建设,挖掘吴、蜀文化的当下秉性和创新特质,意图从中挖掘各自独立的文化意义.寻找文化联系,为进一步推进区域文化互动,创新文化建设,打造区域文化品牌提供新的思路.     

文化认知与当代中国文化研究方法探析

研究方法的确定主要取决于对研究对象的认识和界定。在传统的文化研究中,基于对文化概念的人类学和社会学认识,经验方法、结构方法和历史方法是文化研究的主要方法。但是,随着知识经济的崛起和文化产业的出现,文化的内涵和外延得到拓展,文化功能发生了重大变化,并因此对当代中国文化研究提出了严峻挑战。总体上看,厘清文化对社会经济发展的作用力,探索"文化生产力"的性质、特点、规律、结构和机制,认识当今文化学与其他多学科交叉的特点,进而探究当代中国文化研究方法和路径,已是摆在理论界和学术界面前的任重而道远的任务。     

周代贵族妇女的政治文化特征及相关的伦理观念影响

在周代有一极引人关注的思想现象 ,即反复以女色关乎家国兴亡而戒己告人 ,由此引致周代对妇女道德伦理教化的重视 ,关注男女之别 ,制为婚姻之礼 ,以严正夫妇人伦 ,从而形成周礼规范下的妇女道德伦理体制。欲以道德教化严控妇女人格为入手 ,达到正国家、兴王道的目的 ,从正面制造和利用妇女的政治伦理价值。这在《毛诗序》代表的儒学诗义体系中得到集中体现 ,也反映出周礼文化一大特征 ,并在中国历史上留下极其深远影响 ,基本决定此后关于妇女道德形象的伦理范式标准。     

Free Trade and Print Culture: Political Communication in Early Nineteenth-Century England

This article highlights the potency of traditional popular print culture as a form of political communication for one of the pioneering campaigns of the nineteenth century: the free trade agitation of the 1840s. Contributing to recent debates about Victorian political communication, it challenges the view that the spread of literacy and print replaced a more traditional, inclusive, hybrid style of communication. The use and adaptation of broadside culture that blurred literacy, orality and visuality proved to be a more effective means of communicating free trade to popular audiences than ‘modern’ methods of political communication such as official newspapers or mass propaganda. Joseph Livesey, the most successful free trade populariser, was able to bridge the gap between free trade and Chartism, by drawing on elements of radical print culture, while seeking to shift them onto a more respectable trajectory. Livesey and cheap free trade print culture anticipated the shift from popular radicalism to popular liberalism in political culture and popular politics that occurred after 1850.     

略论儒家文化中的"孝"——兼论"二十四孝"的利弊

上个世纪90年代中期，某省一所高等学校曾经举办了一个以中国传统文化为题材的国际研讨会，在分组讨论时，有一位外国学者作了发言，大意是：今天的中国正在进入老龄化时代，如何供养好老人，已越来越显得重要，但在一些地方不时发生子女虐待和欺凌老人的事件，这是否与忽视中国传统文化中的“孝道”有关？接着，一位中国学者坦承，长期以来，在我国的学校教育和舆论宣传中，尽管对思想教育显得很重视，但大都讳言子女要孝敬父母，有时甚至还将“孝”与封建思想挂上了钩。     

中国文化中的猫头鹰信仰

猫头鹰是自然界常见的一种在夜晚出没的猛禽。在生物分类学上，猫头鹰属于鹗形目，包括鸱鹗和草鹗两科。属于鸱鹗科的猫头鹰约有170种，属于草鹗科的猫头鹰约有15种。据现代动物学家研究，除北极地区外，世界各地都可以看到猫头鹰的踪影。它头圆似猫，眼大而亮，颈缩项间，喙、爪弯而锐利，飞行无声。猫头鹰的大眼睛只能朝前看，要向两边看的时候，就必须转动头部，因而猫头鹰的脖子，能转270度。     

先秦时期的视觉文化

眼睛作为造化的产物，天生是用来观看的。借助眼睛这样的器官而展示的视觉行为，其实就是一个发现世界与认识世界的过程。黑格尔说过，视觉不同于其他感官，属于认识性的感官，意指透过视觉，人们可以自由地把握世界及其规律。确实如此，我们对世界的把握在相当程度上依赖于视觉。视觉作为一种文化的存在，其实很早就有了。在先秦时期，这种视觉文化已经是很成熟的文化，并呈现出一定的特征。

Somewhere in the Middle: The Measurement of Third Culture

This study explores the concept of “third culture,” which has not been tested by quantified measures since it was introduced. This study develops the 10-item measurement of third culture based on three dimensions—equality, commonality, and transcendence. Two hundred and fifteen international married individuals from 42 countries participated in a self-administered email survey. The findings indicated that the new scale is reliable and functions as a single dimension instead of as three subdimensions. Suggestions for future study as well as several implications on theory and methodology are discussed, drawing on the experience of this study.
