鲍得里亚在《消费社会》中为我们描述了一个表面物质财富丰盛、以神话自视的消费社会,但在消费的眩目的光环下掩盖着一个个幻象,不过这些幻象是如此的巧妙,以至被认为是实现的乌托邦。本文着重考察了消费幻象——物品消费和符号消费背后的真相:消费的意识形态和争斗承认的欲望。     

苏珊·朗格美学视野下的《雪莉角》

西尔维娅·普拉斯是美国现代诗坛极具艺术才华的女诗人,其写于1959年的《雪莉角》围绕外祖母位于海边的家而展开。由于普拉斯外祖母的家就在雪莉角且普拉斯和外祖母间有着深厚感情,学者一般认为这是首悼念外祖母的挽歌。突破普拉斯的个人叙事,采用苏珊·朗格的美学理论来分析,这首诗实际上是普拉斯创造的一个生活幻象,诗歌中的每个元素都只具符号性,不具真实性。这个幻象同时具有生命体征,它包含着人类的普遍情感,具有超越自白派的深层意蕴。

“第二极幻象”的提法,出自于美国著名符号美学家苏珊.朗格。她说:“某种艺术的基本幻象,可能象回声一样,作为另一种艺术的第二极幻象出现。这一事实,给了我们某种关于所有艺术基本共同性的启迪。就象空间可以在音乐中忽然出现一样,时间也可以在视觉艺术品之中。

Semiotics,edusemiotics and the culture of education

Semiotics is the study of signs addressing their action, usage, communication and signification (meaning). Edusemiotics—educational semiotics—is a recently developed direction in educational theory that takes semiotics as its foundational philosophy and explores the philosophical specifics of semiotics in educational contexts. As a novel theoretical field of inquiry, it is complemented by research known under the banner ‘semiotics in education’, which is largely an applied enterprise. In this respect edusemiotics is a new conceptual framework for both theoretical and empirical studies. Edusemiotics has also been given the status of being a new branch of theoretical semiotics and it was launched as such at the 12th World Congress of the International Association for Semiotic Studies in September 2014 at the New Bulgarian University in Sofia. The article presents ‘semiosis’ as the action of signs across culture AND nature and posits ‘learning’ in terms of developing semiotic consciousness and semiotic competence. Semiosis is a process and as such it defies the Cartesian philosophy of substance-dualism that still informs the culture of education. The paper focuses specifically on university education permeated by disciplinary boundaries and the fragmentation of knowledge grounded in objective science inherited from modernity. Where is semiotics as the science of signs (or relations) in the context of academic culture? The authors conclude by affirming the transdisciplinary character of semiotics and edusemiotics and specify the distinctive focal points of transdisciplinary knowledge afforded by edusemiotics.

Eydie Wilson's book pleads that struggling secondary learners be encouraged to design on‐screen storyboards as a means of planning various kinds of work. The book is short and—especially at this high price—would benefit from being much better illustrated than it is: in particular, it needs sample learners' work and other forms of case study material. Though clearly written and developed, Serious comix therefore remains dry and shows few signs of the author's passion for its subject. Unsilencing voices: a study of zoo signs and their language of authority

Zoo signs are important for informal learning, but their effect on visitor perception of animals has been sparsely studied. Other studies have established the importance of informal learning in American society; this study discusses zoo signs in the context of such learning. Through the lens of Critical Theory framed by informal learning, and by applying critical discourse analysis, I discovered subtle institutional power on zoo signs. This may influence visitors through dominant ideological discursive formations and emergent discourse objects, adding to the paradox of “saving” wild animals while simultaneously oppressing them. Signs covering a variety of species from two different United States-accredited zoos were analyzed. Critical Theory looks to emancipate oppressed human populations; here I apply it zoo animals. As physical emancipation is not practical, I define emancipation in the sociological sense—in this case, freedom from silence. Through this research, perhaps we can find a way to represent animals as living beings who have their own lives and voices, by presenting them honestly, with care and compassion.

通过文献查阅、梳理了1989年1月—2007年2月国内三大翻译刊物《中国翻译》、《中国科技翻译》、《上海翻译》以及其他一些刊物所发表的公示语翻译研究方面的文章,介绍了我国公示语翻译研究的概况,分析了其特点,提出了对公示语翻译的看法,期望对公示语翻译的进一步研究有所帮助。
