梳理以图书馆本体论、图书馆认识论和图书馆价值论为核心的图书馆哲学的学理，解析图书馆哲学的现有观点和图书馆定义的哲学基础，研讨图书馆哲学的精神，从科学精神和人文精神两方面阐释图书馆哲学精神的意义。     

图书馆的四个文明

认为图书馆文明包括4个方面：①知识在媒体上的记忆储存;②知识媒体的再现流通与传递;③知识内容的参考与转介服务;④知识内涵与知识表现的管理。从文明性质、社会功能等方面对图书馆4个文明进行比较,指出在图书馆创建文明的同时,需及时解决伴随环境变化而衍生的各种矛盾。

The Art and Environment of Embedded Librarianship

Moving beyond typical embedded librarianship, Purchase College (State University of New York) introduced in 2010 an interdisciplinary course hosted by the library. Art and the Environment was a second-year elective co-taught by an art librarian and an environmental studies assistant professor. Successes included outreach to infrequent library users, student satisfaction, and collegial relations. Challenges stemmed from the “gray zone” librarians occupy in academic settings, with librarians and teaching faculty viewed distinctly by the administration.

通过对我国三个历史时期政治文明建设与图书馆事业政策的比较研究,认为政治文明是影响图书馆事业发展的主要社会因素。在每一个历史时期,在社会政治文化已经建立起稳固的指导作用的环境下,如果狭隘地强调政治在图书馆工作中的指导作用,会对图书馆事业产生多种负面影响,公平、开放的政治文化则会为图书馆事业提供宽松的发展环境,有利于图书馆事业的发展。

推荐系统与数字图书馆个性化

Recommender systems can be a powerful tool for digital libraries if they implement the systems right to information seekers. While patrons have shown an increased interest in recommender systems, digital libraries ought to offer personalized services and assist users both novice and experienced with more sophisticate information retrieval technologies. By guiding users to timely, accurate, and suitable resources within the library the recommender system could take the place of the reference librarian of the bricks and mortar library to enhance the digital libraries services.     

道德规范与国书馆事业

美国图书馆协会的<职业道德规范声明>提出了以图书馆事业为中心的具体原则,其<图书馆权利法案>则明确了图书馆的责任和义务.目前,美国社会和政治环境的变化为图书馆职业带来了越来越多的忧虑和压力."9·11"后出台的<爱国者法案>明显与图书馆职业道德规范中所阐述的重要原则相冲突.因此,美国图书馆协会决心抵制<爱国者法案>对知识、信息自由开放以及行使个人隐私权的限制.     

Educational Technology and College Librarianship

ABSTRACT

The fields of educational technology and librarianship interact in many significant areas: information literacy, distance learning, the design and management of instructional materials, etc. Given the congruence of concerns between the two disciplines, it is illustrative to relate the historical development of the definition of educational technology to librarianship. This article surveys briefly the development of the definition of educational technology and the relationship of college librarianship to these developments. Finally, the study places an explanation of librarianship within the 2008 definition of educational technology promulgated by the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) and concludes that college librarianship is the study and ethical practice of facilitating learning and improving performance by creating, using, and managing appropriate technological processes and resources of many formats.     

User Expectations from Nigerian University Libraries Services in the 21st Century

This paper discusses the current level of services in Nigerian universities. It then describes information technologies that will lead Nigerian universities out of the condition approaching a "knowledge famine" and provide the level of library/information service required by Nigerian society.     

Principlism and the Ethics of Librarianship

Moral dilemmas are a seemingly intractable part of librarianship. Although professional codes of ethics offer some guidance as to the nature of librarians’ professional obligations, they are generally silent when it comes to moral decision making at the point of service. This article will argue that librarians must augment their normative professional codes with a rational decision procedure when faced with a moral dilemma involving a library service. In particular, the ethical approach of principlism—the dominant ethical approach in medical ethics—is well-suited to librarianship. Pursuant to the principlist approach, this article will qualify the nature of moral dilemmas, establish the limits of professional codes of ethics, identify a candidate set of core principles of library service, and outline the core principlist concepts of specifying obligations and balancing principles.     

制约我国图书馆事业发展的社会因素

图书馆事业的存在与发展最终依赖于社会的文明和经济的进步。就我国来说,目前有若干社会因素,包括应试教育、科研水平的局限性及非理性化的管理机制等制约着图书馆事业的发展。
