Fujian＇s Folk Arts of Spring Festival Displayed in Macao

In the Spring Festival 2005 in Macao, an exhibition on Fujian and Jiangsu‘s folk arts of spring festival was held in the art museum next to Golden Lotus Square which was built to celebrate Macao‘s return to the motherland. At the exhibition entrance which was decorated in typical south China‘s green tiles and gray walls, a pair of red spring festival couplet immediately brought visitors into Chinese new year.

A Life of Red Sandalwood

If you drive along the Chang＇an Avenue eastward in Beijing and pass through skyscrapers in CBD, you will soon encounter a complex of ancient buildings of Ming and Qing styles - China Red Sandalwood Museum. EXHIBITION COMMEMORATING WU GUANZHONG HELD IN NATIONAL GALLERY

A special exhibition was held in the Nationa Art Museum of China from July 7 to August 2, commemorating contemporary master painter Wu Guanzhong, who passed away during the late evening hours of June 25. The exhibition displayed 62 works from master Wu, all from the museum＇s collection and covered three exhibition halls on the fifth floor of the museum.

On September 22, 2013, Chen Lvsheng Art Museum was opened in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, China.Chen Lvsheng Art Museum is named after Chen Lvsheng, a famous art historian, painter and photographer.The main building of the museum provides approximately 2,000 m2 for use, including two exhibition halls and a studio.The museum staged two special exhibitions to celebrate its completion：＂The Exhibition of Chen Lvsheng＇s Paintings and Collection＂ and ＂Oil Lamps Depicted by Famous Artists＂.     

A GLIMPSE OF OVERSEAS CHINESE HISTORY MUSEUMS IN CHINA

Overseas Chinese history museums are cultural institutions specialized in the colleCtion and exhibition of hiStory, artifacts and references of overseas Chinese. In recent years, overseas Chinese history museums have risen as an important dimension of China＇s museum development, thanks to eye.increasing ties between overseas Chinese and their motherland, upgrading of China＇s comprehensive strength and ever-deepened studies about overseas Chinese. So far, there are eight overseas Chinese history museums in China.     

Bai Ming Patches Up Fragments of Civilization

In the 1980s, he exchanged his grandfather＇s curio collections for a color TV set, a refrigerator and a cassette recorder, the three popular luxuries of the time. He called himself a ＂spendthrift＂ of his family then. In the 1990s, he dug for ceramic fragments in the demolishment site in Ping＇an Avenue and therefore gained the nickname ＂Fragment Bai＂. In 2000, he co founded ＂Mu Ming Tang＂, a museum to display ancient ceramic fragments, and obtained a new title,     

Shanghai Museum

Shanghai Museum was founded in 1952 and originally housed in the former horseracing club in Nanjing West Road. In 1996, the museum moved into the current site in People＇s Square in the heart of the city and reopened to public. The unique architectural form of the new building, featuring a round top and a square foundation and symbolizing the traditional Chinese philosophical concept that the square earth is under the round sky, is an outstanding combination of tradition and modernity and presents an extraordinary visual effect.     

Pan Yuliang＇s Damaged Oil Paintings Restored Successfully

Editor＇s note： In June 2005, Director of Anhui Provincial Museum Hu Xinmin announced, “After seven months of hard work done by experts across the Taiwan Straits led by Taiwanese oil restoration expert Li Fuchang, 108 damaged oil paintings out of the museum＇s whole collection of Pan Yuliang＇s 361 oil paintings have been successfully restored in Hefei. We will select some one hundred oil works of her and display them next year in Taipei, Kaohsiung and Taichung. This exhibition will serve as a bridge facilitating cross-straits cultural exchange.”

The Topkapi Palace Museum in Istanbul, Turkey, the royal palace of the Ottoman Empire in ancient times, serves as Turkey＇s national museum today, As one of the museums with the largest Chinese porcelain collection in the world, the Topkapi Palace boasts a total of 10,358 pieces of Chinese porcelain made during the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. Impressionist Painting in China： The Long Struggle for Acceptance

The exhibition “Impressionist Masterpieces from France‘s National Collections”, which marks the start of the Year of France in China, debuted in Beijing in October 2004 and moved on to Shanghai and Hong Kong after six weeks in the Chinese capital. The exhibits consist of 51 masterpieces by major French impressionists, such as Claude Monet‘s series of paintings “Waterlilies”, Edgar Degas‘ series “Ballet Dancers” and Pierre-August Renoir‘s series “Women, Children.” This was the first large-scale exhibition of impressionist paintings ever displayed in China.
