英语中虚假的主动性动词具有被动能力。它们在句中以主动形式出现，却表示被动意义。在逻辑上，句中主语可看作是这类动词发出动作的承受。在某些英语句型中，用主动形式的不定式表示被动意义。在少数动词、动词短语、介词、介词短语及谓语性形容词worth后用主动形式的动名词表示被动意义。     

英语实义动词+形容词句型结构探讨
