Approaches to measurement of communication competence are reviewed. The self‐report approach to measurement of communication competence is examined. It is concluded that self‐reports have little validity as indicants of competent communicative performances but may serve as useful measures of self‐perceptions which may function as precursors of communicative choices. The Self‐Perceived Communication Competence scale is suggested as a measure which can he used for such purposes.  相似文献

This study explores a corporate campaign to pass a referendum to enable the development of a hydropower plant in a small Swedish community. In the changing institutional context that grounds this case, the organization needed to develop communicative practices that embodied “cultural competence,” a set of processes identified as critical for the legitimacy and success of business organizations in the emerging global/intersectoral environment. Findings suggest that the MNC's communication strategy captured important components of cultural competence. However, institutional contradictions impeded enactment of the strategy and resulted in delegitimizing paradoxical communication. The results indicate that organizational awareness of institutional change and culturally competent strategy are insufficient without special attention to contradictions and resultant communicative paradoxes embodied within a particular institutional context. The importance of a reflective communication approach that engages contradictions and tensions in the surrounding micro–macro institutional contexts is underscored.  相似文献

文章在吸收与借鉴国内外企业竞争情报价值与绩效相关研究成果的基础上,提出由显性指标与隐性指标所构成的企业竞争情报力测度指标体系假设模型.运用实证研究方法,采用探索性因子分析法对所获得的调查问卷数据进行统计分析,根据分析结果验证并修正所提出的假设模型,最终构建形成企业竞争情报力测度指标体系.通过实证研究,以期为客观、科学地评价企业竞争情报综合水平提供有效的测量工具与评价方法.  相似文献

This case study examines Enron's top executives' activities through Bourdieu's notion of misrecognized competence or “capital.” Top executives' practices were misrecognized as valuable and legitimate competencies against the backdrop of the company's changing new-economy context. Most approaches to intellectual, social, and cultural capital assume their automatic value. In contrast, this essay shows that the perceived value of executives' practices was the result of Enron's context and executives' communicative efforts to position their own contributions as the most important. As outsiders scrutinized the company, however, executives' activities were exposed as self-serving and primary contributors to Enron's troubles.  相似文献

在网络技术发展和信息服务格局变化的压力下,学术界就图书馆核心能力问题产生了严重分歧:社会制度观强调从知识或信息保障的制度层面,为图书馆找到一种其他机构不可比拟或无法取代的能力;知识服务观主张通过知识应用和知识创新服务,培育图书馆新的业务生长点;基础业务观则在文献集藏与公共服务两个基本领域,致力于为图书馆核心能力辩护。不同观点之间的冲突,不仅造成学术上的困惑,也带来实践中的迷茫。分析各种代表性观点在图书馆核心能力形成基础、价值取向和认定标准上的认识冲突问题,是探索一种具有基本共识的图书馆核心能力理论的一个重要环节。  相似文献

Communication is constitutive—in theory. In research, however, communication is often treated as an outcome, influenced by personal attributes. The present research examines social communication competence as a constitutive influence predicting self-compassion and hope. Path analysis results support this hypothesis. Results show that social communication expressivity (β = .14), sensitivity (β = –.32), and control (β = .20) predict self-compassion. Social communication sensitivity (β = .26) and control (β = .27) affect hope agency, and social communication control (β = .29) predicts hope pathways thinking. These results provide evidence of the constitutive nature of communication.  相似文献

[目的/意义]以人文学者为研究对象,划分其数字能力域类别,构建人文学者用于学术研究的数字能力框架,用以探究当前我国人文学者的数字能力现状和存在问题。[方法/过程]按文史哲、语言、法律;艺术、音乐、传媒;图书馆学、档案学、博物馆学;人类学、政治学、社会学4大学科分类对国内203名相关人文学者开展问卷调查,并对问卷结果进行因子分析、T检验、单因素ANOVA分析。[结果/结论]为提高人文学者的数字能力,从人文学者开展学术研究的一般过程:前期基本信息能力、中期数字技术运用能力、末期交流共享能力三方面提出建议,为今后人文学者如何更好地开展学术活动、图书馆相应学科服务能力的升级、数字人文平台推动人文研究的发展等方面提供一定参考。  相似文献

In this paper, I argue that listening to a film is as significant as watching it; in spite of what seems like a formalist argument, I examine in what ways such an approach intervenes in the production of knowledge around Philippine history and Filipina/o bodies. In Kidlat Tahimik's film, Mababangong Bangungot, an overprivileging of the visual aids and abets the film's masculinist nationalism, despite the best efforts of critics to find a “third term.” That third term just might come from listening to the film, which delivers its own kind of postcolonial and feminist critique, one which impacts how we think about contemporary communication and cultural studies.  相似文献

This research explored the role of family interactions on young adult females' disordered eating attitudes as mediated by both social competence and psychological distress. Assessment of the family interaction variables included the perspectives of multiple family members: a young adult female, a mother, and a sibling. Results generally supported the proposed model such that family interaction patterns, namely family-expressed emotion, were associated with low social competence, low social competence was associated with psychological distress, and psychological distress was associated with disordered eating attitudes. Practical applications of these results are discussed, as implications of this study draw attention to corrosive family communication patterns and inadequate social competence as key factors related to disordered eating attitudes.  相似文献

A syllabus study was conducted to gain insight into the library use expectations of faculty for undergraduate accounting students. The findings were compared to the professional competencies articulated by Canadian professional accounting association competency maps, and there was an expectations gap. All three competency maps referred to a set of professional skills that, when mapped to the Association of College and Research Libraries’ (ACRL) Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education, were equivalent to information competence, yet the majority of courses taught required very little library use. This study contributes to the literature as the first to map the ACRL's standards to Canadian professional accounting association competencies.  相似文献

Responding to calls for more holistic views on instructional communication, this study used interpretive methods to examine award-winning instructor's communicative practices to assess and to refine a definition of instructional communication competence. After observing and interviewing recipients of the Central States Communication Association Outstanding New Teacher Award, we describe how these award-winning teachers (a) understand the ebb and flow of the classroom, (b) use a wide repertoire of communication skills, (c) create relationships with students, and (d) effectively manage their classroom climates.  相似文献

This article identifies two basic models of citizen competence (the ignorant citizen and the rational citizen) in which normative theories of journalism and standards of news quality are grounded. I propose the interpreting citizen as an alternative view of citizen competence. According to this model, the availability of diverse interpretive frames in the public realm, particularly in the news media, is an important precondition for enhancing citizen competence. Given flaws in existing standards for evaluating journalism quality, the news media should be judged in terms of their performance in presenting diverse interpretive frames, rather than in terms of informational goals.  相似文献

20世纪90年代以来,国内图书馆界对图书馆核心能力的研究和理解主要有三大主流观点:①从社会制度角度理解图书馆的核心能力,认为图书馆的核心能力在于它是保障知识自由的一种社会制度;②从系统角度理解图书馆的核心能力,认为图书馆的核心能力是技术、技能、管理、经营、组织和文化的有机整合;③从服务角度理解图书馆的核心能力,认为知识服务是图书馆的核心能力。针对上述三大主流观点进行论述,并提出对图书馆核心能力认识及其研究的几点思考。  相似文献

国际图书馆界已有研究探讨当今时代馆员的多元文化观,指出馆员具备多元文化能力的迫切性,特别是在移民渐增的现时社会,图书馆馆员要面对本国既有少数民族族群,还需面对跨国移民、难民等外来族群,多元文化能力便成为提升服务技巧与层次的关键。限于国内图书馆多元文化服务的理论与实践在此领域尚未有系统的研究,文章以国内外文献探讨方式针对馆员多元文化能力的内涵进行列举和解析,并结合实际提出培养内容与学习的建议。  相似文献

This study examined the correspondence between four different styles of listening (people, action, content, and time) and their relationship to second‐guessing theory. Individuals often question the veracity of messages that they receive from second‐hand sources. Individuals may doubt the second‐hand source as well as the “primary” source. We explored whether different styles of listening were associated with a tendency to second guess was explained. A regression analysis revealed that two listening styles predicted second guessing, accounting for 17% of the variance. Results are discussed in terms of listener profiles and second‐guessing motivation.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

This article revisits LIS literature about cultural competence. It is not the prominent topic it was but is still considered important for addressing diversity, and is still criticized for obscuring racism and power structures in librarianship and society. Articles published in the last four years suggest, however, that library and information studies educators are teaching to engage with these issues. The cultural competence conceptual framework, specifically the environmental domain, can be recast to incorporate engagement with race and power. This more robust framework would enable culturally competent professionals to do more than accommodate difference.  相似文献
