为了进一步量化研究图书馆学与图书馆事业互动发展要素流动的关系,文章建立了以图书馆事业发展水平指数为产出要素,以图书馆资本投入、图书馆专业人才投入、非图书馆专业人才投入、图书馆专业技术投入、非图书馆专业技术投入五种变量为投入要素的图书馆事业发展函数模型,并选取2001-2014年的数据,定量测算图书馆学对图书馆事业发展的贡献率。结果表明:图书馆学与图书馆事业发展虽具有很强的关联性,但在长期互动发展中并不具有稳定性和因果关系;图书馆学对图书馆事业发展的贡献率为16.94%,其中专业人才的贡献率仅为0.35%,专业技术贡献率为16.59%;资本和技术是推动图书馆事业发展的主要因素,人才是制约图书馆事业发展的瓶颈。  相似文献

This study examines the policies and occurrences of occupational health hazards among library personnel in private universities in the Southwest, Nigeria. A total population of 177 respondents from 15 privately owned universities were used for the study. The research instrument used in the collection of data was a questionnaire. The result of the study shows that most respondents have experienced occupational health hazards. The study also revealed that muscle strain, back aches, eye problems, and respiratory diseases are the most prevalent occupational health hazards experienced by library personnel. The study identified manual handling of library materials, constant exposure of the eyes to computer screens, inhaling of chemicals and dust, as well as long sitting position as the main causes of occupational health hazards among staff. Most respondents indicated that their organizations are not implementing policies on occupational health hazards. Recommendations were made on how to address the various issues raised.  相似文献

THE PRESENT SYSTEM OF EDUCATION FOR MEDICAL LIBRARY PRACTICE IN THE UNITED STATES CONSISTS OF FOUR MAJOR COMPONENTS: graduate degree programs in library science with specialization in medical librarianship; graduate degree programs in library science with no such specialization; postgraduate internships in medical libraries; continuing education programs. Data are presented illustrating the flow of graduates along these several educational pathways into medical library practice.The relevance of these educational components to the current medical library work force is discussed with reference to manpower data compiled for Ohio. The total number of medical library personnel in Ohio in 1968 is 316. Of this total, only forty-two (approximately 14 percent) have received any formal library training. Seventy persons have only a high school education. From these figures, it is concluded that there is no standard or essential qualification which is universally accepted as educational preparation for work in medical libraries; that the comparative sophistication of the educational programs in medical librarianship has yet to be reflected widely in general medical library practice; that an increasingly large number of non-professional or ancillary personnel are being, and will continue to be, utilized in medical libraries; that large numbers of untrained persons have sole responsibility for medical libraries; and that appropriate educational programs will have to be designed specifically for this type of personnel.  相似文献

[目的/意义]了解美国iSchool 图书情报学人才培养模式的现状,为国内图书情报学人才培养模式的改革提供借鉴。[方法/过程]对美国排名前15的iSchool院校进行网络调研,从培养目标、培养内容、培养方式以及人才培养评估4个方面对其图书情报学人才培养模式进行调查分析。[结果/结论]美国iSchool旨在培养学生掌握学科基础知识、基本技能、信息技术以及提升其学习与研究能力;其核心课程类别设置广泛,涉及基础课程、信息技术、研究方法及跨学科课程等方面;人才培养方式多样化,包括学位教育、认证、双学位、辅修等多种方式;认证协会、排名机构与学院重视对人才培养质量的评估。美国iSchool人才培养模式对我国的图书情报学人才培养具有重要启示。  相似文献

This study explored the outcomes of, and adaptive strategies employed by library personnel in performing afternoon/nightshift in a mega-city like Lagos, Nigeria. The Maslach Burnout Theory was used as the explanation framework for burnout concepts such as; emotional exhaustion, cynicism, depersonalisation and individual accomplishment and other matters allied with longstanding, unsolved job-induced stress. The qualitative methodology guided by a phenomenological research paradigm, which is an approach that focuses on the commonality of real-life experiences in a particular group, was used. A focus group discussion among purposively selected library personnel was used as a method of data collection from staff who are involved in afternoon/nightshift. The participants were selected using convenience sampling technique in which all categories of staff in the cataloguing unit involved in nightshift were included in the sample because of their representative characteristics. The phenomenological approach was adopted in conducting the study to enable a deep elicitation of data for understanding the phenomena as it is reasonable and from a broad interpretation of perspectives drawn from individual experiences. The questions posed were meant to shed light on issues relating to the participants' maintenance of a work-life balance in-situ with performance of nightshift duties. The study discovered that library staff experience emotions of fear, insecurity, stress and financial strain over their involvement in the performance of nightshift duty at the University of Lagos library.  相似文献

ABSTARCT

The Thompson Library, the main library of The Ohio State University (OSU), began a major renovation in fall 2006 that required the library to close for three years. During this time, the bulk of the circulating collection and many of the personnel relocated to an interim facility. The distance imposed by the renovation created special challenges for service to patrons and communication among library faculty and staff. The OSU Libraries used blogs, podcasts, a wiki, instant messaging, and the campus course management system to reach as many of the constituents of the campus community as possible.  相似文献

The most essential components of the former Northlands Regional Medical Program Library Services are reviewed. Their impact is assessed through interpretation of responses to a questionnaire sent to rural institutions that had borrowed one of the NRMP demonstration core libraries. Although the NRMP had thoroughly promoted the need for these institutions to provide information services beyond their own collection, many of them were not ready to support an alternative means of educating library personnel, and had not made use of the extension services provided through either the University of Minnesota Biomedical Library or the Mayo Medical Library. A gradual change was anticipated, however, and some general recommendations are made as an outcome of this study regarding the direction of further efforts towards medical library development in the non-metropolitan areas of Minnesota.  相似文献

Undergraduate students arrive at a research-oriented university or college with varying levels of experience and ability in using libraries or information. The Purdue University Undergraduate Library has designed an instruction program to teach large numbers of students the essential library research skills needed for completing higher education program requirements and for lifelong learning. The major objective of the program is to instill a sense of the value of information utilization to all students without presenting impossible demands on limited library personnel resources. To meet this objective, the Undergraduate Library Research Skills Program was developed. Through use of several components designed for on-demand, self-directed learning, students obtain instruction on how to logically and efficiently conduct library research. This approach allows students and faculty to satisfy their information instruction requirements based on their personal interest, motivation, and time constraints. The following paper describes the components of this Program and the methodology employed for integrating the content of these components into the existing curriculum. Enhancements to this Program are also described to suggest a process whereby this Program could be adapted to other libraries' instruction requirements.  相似文献

Increasingly, organizations are facing turbulent and competitive times. Hence, the need for universities to capitalize on the robustness and diversity of their employees to maximize their success by attracting and developing an engaged, healthy, and high-performing workforce through the provision of stimulating work environments that will promote work-family balance, work motivation, job satisfaction and overall job commitment. This study was designed to investigate the effects of work motivation, job satisfaction, and work-family balance on job commitment as well as work motivation and work-family balance as they affect job satisfaction of library personnel in universities in North-central Nigeria. The total enumeration technique was used to cover all the 926 library personnel in the universities in North-central Nigeria. The validated questionnaire was used to collect data on 926 library personnel out of which 842 responded. The response rate achieved was 91 %. The study found that work-family balance, work motivation and job satisfaction had significant effect on the job commitment of the respondents. Job satisfaction has the most significant effect (41 %) on job commitment. It is therefore, recommended that university administrators, library managers and most especially policy makers in the education sector should give adequate attention to work-family balance, work motivation, and job satisfaction when planning to improve job commitment of their employees. In addition, they should consider work motivation and work-family balance to improve job satisfaction of the library employees.  相似文献

开源图书馆集成系统(OS-ILS)在国外图书馆得到大量应用,其具有自行维护、购买支持服务和联盟支持3种技术支持模式,呈现出良好的发展趋势,却极少得到国内图书馆的青睐。我国OS-ILS与国外存在较大差距,主要归因于图书馆经费保障体制的制约、专业技术人才的缺乏、图书馆间技术合作意识的欠缺、商业化IT支持服务的缺失、开源社区力量的不足。我国应采取制定相关政策、推动商业主导的技术支持模式、培养图书馆技术人才等措施,以推动我国开源图书馆集成系统的发展。  相似文献

[目的/意义]为提高读者对馆藏资源可获得性感知的程度,设计5级里克特量表,以探寻可获得性感知的影响因素、影响机理及影响因素间的内在关联性.[方法/过程]采用等比例分层抽样方法获得282份有效问卷,对问卷数据进行数据挖掘和回归分析.[结果/结论]分析结果表明,馆藏资源可获得性感知水平与读者对图书馆的宣传、培训和馆藏资源这三者的满意度都分别有显著的正相关关系,宣传的满意度对可获得性感知的影响最为重要,宣传、培训和馆藏资源的满意度两两之间对馆藏资源可获得性感知都分别有相互促进的交互效应.这些分析结果为提高读者的感知程度,提供了充分的科学依据.  相似文献

Reference workshops offer an important continuing education option for librarians. The planning, organization, and implementation of an assignment based program for the reference personnel of the Queens Borough Public Library is described. Participant evaluations are analyzed and presented with recommendations for future learning activities. Book reviews from Choice, proximity, automation, and committed personnel are the bases for a cooperative collection development project among the Tri-College University Consortium libraries at Moorhead, Minnesota, and Fargo, North Dakota. The purpose of the project is to provide more titles for users of the Consortium libraries without compromising collection quality. Librarians at each library make selections from each issue of Choice, prioritize them, compare them, and decide which library should purchase each selection. The ongoing project, in existence for 15 years, currently diverts more than $59,000 annually to additional purchases. This study concludes that when automation, close proximity, and committed personnel are available, cooperative collection development based on Choice reviews is a worthwhile project and that cooperative collection development as a part of resource sharing is the best way to serve the library needs of the Tri-College University Consortium.  相似文献

以北京大学图书馆为调研对象,按照专业将图书馆人员分为图书馆学专业、相关专业以及非图书馆学专业三种类型.将三种专业类型的职称分布、部门分布以及职称的评定和升迁速度进行对比统计分析,为图书馆选拔人才及人才培养提供参考意见,并对图书馆学专业单独进行分析,指出图书馆学教育应传授实际工作中更需要的知识和技能.  相似文献
