研究邓小平政治哲学，一方面要考虑到政治哲学的基本理论问题，如政治哲学的学科定位、内涵、研究对象等，同时还要结合邓小平政治哲学的自身特点，这样才能把握邓小平政治哲学的内涵、研究对象等基本问题。这些问题的解决有助于建构邓小平政治哲学，对当代中国政治哲学的建构也有重要意义。

政治哲学研究学科问题的研究已经受到我国学术界的关注,不过目前在许多主面仍然存在不少争议,在学科定位,与政治学所属学科和交叉学科的理解相比,政治哲学作为哲学所属相对独立的学科地位则更为适当。政治哲学的研究对象可以确定为与社会基本结构等政治问题相关的根本价值或者共同善。政治哲学的学科资源应当广泛地包括马克思主义政治哲学、中西方政治哲学思想以及政治哲学与社会结构和政治制度设计等内容,政治哲学的发展需要学术制度层面上的保障。

中国传统政治哲学积极地看待政治对于人的普遍影响,强调政治威权的人性及其在使人皆"成人"方面的必要功能,因此,其基本问题可以归结为"成人",而"成人"则以是否合于天道、天意等为标准.围绕着人所以为人,中国传统政治哲学建构了许多可以划归不同领域、不同类别的政治哲学命题.依据命题讨论的具体问题,中国传统政治哲学命题可以划分为本原、形式、目的、本体、本质、发生、道德、方法等类别.     

在走向体系化的途中--十年来国内邓小平政治哲学研究述评

邓小平理论中蕴含着丰富而深刻的政治哲学思想，近年来，国内学者从邓小平政治哲学的性质与原则、研究对象、内容和理论贡献、方法论和研究规范等方面入手，进行了初步的研究和归纳。但总的来说，这些研究还流于零散和空泛，没有将邓小平政治哲学作为新时代中国建设的政治哲学系统来进行建构与研究，所以，今后的研究方向应当是深刻地挖掘这些材料中的哲学内涵与政治哲学体系的建构。
