托妮·莫里森的长篇代表作《宠儿》（1987）在莫氏荣膺诺贝尔文学奖（1993）以来一直是国内美国少数族裔文学研究的重要文本。从小说的人物形象、思想主题、艺术形式等三方面对1990年代以来国内该作品的研究进行梳理,试图较客观地把握中国《宠儿）研究的特色与态势。     

Morrison’s Exploration of Love in Beloved

Toni Morrison’s masterpiece Beloved is the first of a trilogy aimed at reconstructing African American history of more than 300 years. This essay explores Morrison’s emphasis on love, focusing primarily on the personal relationships between Sethe, Beloved, Paul D and Denver. The various forms of love are vividly depicted in a thought-provoking way which weaving through the entire book.

文学作品中的逃离母题体现了人类的文化沉淀,已成为文学作品中最基本的母题之一。逃离母题是莫里森创作的最主要的母题之一,贯穿子小说情节设置、人物塑造等各个层面。逃离的主人公大多出自弱势国家和民族,莫里森借助逃离主题让处于弱势的黑人群体发出自己反抗的声音,生动再现了不同时代黑人的生存状态,有力地展现了黑人奴隶所经受的身心折磨以及现代自由黑人在白人主流文化排挤下的精神困境。通过分析莫里森作品中的逃离母题,深入挖掘作品的文化意蕴和现实意义,揭示美国社会的文化取向和价值观念,展现莫里森对黑人种族和美国社会所抱有的文化理想,进而补充和完善国内有关莫里森的研究。     

Identity and Community in Toni Morrison’s Sula

Toni Morrison’s Sula was published in 1973.It portrays a black woman who quests for self under the strick doctrines of black community.The novel puts forward a complexed contradiction of identity and black community in the historical context of black community and protagonist Sula’s change,rejection,awareness of self and death.The overall challenges of Sula pays her life as a price.Morrison,through this piece of work,reveals the conflicts between Sula’s self and black community.Sula’s tragic ending voices an unchanged fact that self must be developed within the black community.     

Florens’ Identity Loss and Reconstruction in Toni Morrison’s A Mercy from Lacanian Concept of Other

Other is an important concept in Lacan’s psychology theory, which plays a critical role in a subject’s identity formation. The formation of a subject’s self-identity is based on other, initially its mother, the absence of the other will cause the subject’s identity loss and the reconstruction on the new other. Therefore, this article analyzes the main subject Florens’ identity loss and her identity reconstruction by applying Lacan’s concept of other.     

A Study on the Translator’s Subjectivity of Wolf Totem

The translator, as the main body of a translation, has been in an invisible and ignored state for a long time. The position of the translator has been improved and the role of the translator has begun to be recognized since the field of translation studies multifaceted and deepened. In order to analyze the translator’s subjectivity better, the thesis states comprehensive definitions of the translator’s subjectivity and uses Wolf Totem as a case study, whose author is Jiang Rong and the translator is Howard Goldblatt, to show that how the translator Howard Goldblatt utilizes his subjectivity in the translation process.

A Comparative Study on the Two English Versions of Lu Xun’s Stories

The two English versions of Lu Xun’s stories, translated by Julia Lovell and the Rangs, are to be studied from the ecotranslatological perspective. A comparative study of the two English versions is made to figure out how the two translators linguistically and culturally make adaptive selections in the process of translation of Lu Xun’s stories—In other words, how the eco-environment has greatly influenced the two translators’ decisions to make adaptations and choices in linguistic and cultural aspects.The thesis discovers that the eco-environment has greatly influenced the process of translating Lu Xun’s stories into English and eco-translatology is feasible to analyze the two translations, that both the Yangs and Lovell have offered successful translations by making adaptive selections and selective transformations. Therefore, neither of the two translations is superior or inferior to one another in different translational eco- environments. Hopefully, the thesis may enrich current researches on the Yang’s and Lovell’s translations and may be useful for the further study of applying eco-translatology to studies on other translators and their works.
